I have published many of my titles with google.  They are using beta version and are new big players.  But I have not seen any sale yet.  I wonder if anyone else is using google platform; so that we can compare notes.

I submitted my books to Google about six weeks ago. The idea was to drive traffic back to my website where buyers would then go to Amazon, Pubit, or wherever to purchase.

Three weeks after I submitted, they were still 'in processing,' so I emailed Google and to ask what was up. They replied several days later, telling me things were just taking awhile, that I should be patient.

Yesterday (6 weeks after I submitted), they were still 'in processing'.

Not anymore. I sent them another email telling them to remove my books.

Seriously? Six weeks to get into their system? And they hope to compete with Amazon and B&N? I don't think so.

Yep, we're listed on Google. We've sold a total of about $300 in two months. Nothing major yet.

I am having very similar experience.  I didn't keep track of time like you did.  But I still have one book in processing but published 10 of them.  However, their sale report is not showing anything even after couple weeks.  Either they have not sold any or not reported.

I believe google want to go big way into ebooks, but they are just not setup.  It is taking lot of time.  That's why it is beta version and still in testing stage, IMO.  So far the progress is disappointing. Thanks for sharing your experience, William.

BTW, Do you have with anyone else other than amazon, bn and google?

Congratulations.  At least you're making some progress.  How efficient is their sale reporting by the way. Thanks.

Their reporting is real time. Easy. I just wish there were more sales. Smiley

We had our books up and ready to go with Google for nine months before they launched. We were on "Google Books Search" first - and they transferred those books over to Google Editions when it opened. Which is why we didn't have the waiting issue you're experiencing. I imagine they weren't planning on the large amount of influx of books coming in.

You can also try these sites for uploading your books:

http://www.omnilit.com/
http://www.booksonboard.com/
http://www.mobipocket.com

And obviously smashwords.

My books are pending with smashwords.  Because I am quite new into this game as compared to you.

I do appreciate you suggesting some sites.  Before I jump into these sites, I would appreciate your experience with these sites, for example, compared to amazon, bn, smashwords. Thanks.

Omnilit is a great outfit. Not sure about their sales for non-fiction thought.

BOB doesn't get tons of sales anymore

Mobi is an Amazon company - that's how we used to get onto Kindle before they opened DTP. But they distribute out to a lot of other sites, so it's good exposure.

They all pay quarterly, on time, and have real-time reporting.

They sounded too shaky, so I'm holding back for now. I liked the idea of them connecting with indie booksellers, though. Love to support the local booksellers and help them stay in business.

Thanks Selena. I have to look at those sights and figure out using their platforms.

You mean those 3 sites Selena mentioned in her message.  Or something else.  Please share any experience with those sites, if you have. Thanks.

How does Google deal with price? Can an author set a price, or does Google set it? Can listing with Google set off a cascading reduction when Amazon and B&N find Google cut price below them?

I had the same experience as Selena.  With Google from before they launched, but to date, no notice of any sale and no real action.  I don't even check with them.  They have my deposit info and if something shows up, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hi Selena,
What percentage of sales does google books represent to you when compared to Kindle (for example 10% of your kindle sales, 5% etc)?

I didn't have any trouble getting my book into the Google eBook store once I pulled the trigger to do it, but it took about four hours of reading and rereading their scattered help pages before I was confident I knew how to do it.

The eBook showed up in Google's book search almost immediately, but it took a week for it to show up in the eBook store. So far, I haven't had any sales, but it looks like they're going to push the bookstore when the new Android 3 tablets come out later this year.

It's exactly the same with my account with google. So I am not the only one wondering.  They may eventually work out of this beta version, I hope. It's taking more time.

I do appreciate sharing your info Gordon. Thanks.

BTW, when you say you have same experience as Selena, you mean you're using OmniLit etc.. Just curious.
