This topic isn't *too* serious, but...I've had to stop reading my Kinding (K2) in bed once my husband decides to roll over and go to sleep because he says the clicking when I turn pages keeps him awake! His K3 seems to be quieter. Of course it helps that I have 1 deaf ear so if he makes noises, I just roll over onto my good ear and the pillow muffles any annoying sounds.
Has anyone else had this problem with "page turning clicking"?

He must be a pretty light sleeper. My DH sleeps through violent thunder storms etc so I don't have to worry about making noise when he's sleeping. You said that the clicking can keep him awake..... will it wake him up once he's asleep? If not, maybe you can wait to read for 15 minutes or so until he falls asleep and then start reading. Or... this may just be the reason you need to upgrade and get yourself the "quieter" K3. "Only thinking of your much-needed sleep, Honey!"

hahaha - now there's a thought!
I could use this as an excuse to get a K3!
He's a pretty light sleeper, which I guess is why he's so sensitive to any noises like that.

I have had some K2's that were loud. Have you considered putting it in a ziplock bag or two just for night reading? I know the click, wait, just about asleep, click again can be a little nerve racking. There is always earplugs . . .  good luck, Scott |

I'm the same way. It used to be really loud when I first got it, but now it's not that bad after years of having my K2i. But I have pretty sensitive hearing and I can understand your hubby not being able to sleep. I also have been tempted to purchase a K3 for this purpose (well, and a few others), but most of the time it doesn't seem to bother anyone. Tris |

 Get your husband some earplugs. I started using them years ago when I lived in apt and a neighbor had a giant truck and would warm it up each morning right below my window. I've since moved but I still use it each night. I fall asleep easier with total silence. |

My husband said he never heard it, but I was always so worried. One of the things I love about my K3 is that the page turns are quiet. Easier to sneak reading when you're not supposed to.

I got by for a while by saying "Go back to sleep dear, you were just snoring and woke yourself up"
Thankfully this K2 is not as loud as "Conan the De-snorer" was.

I love that "Conan the De-snorer".
Everyone and everything in our family snores. It doesn't bother me since I grew up in a family of snorers and found it comforting as a child to wake up at night and hear my parents snoring off in the distance. If they were snoring, you knew everything was okay. Plus, I figured, it would scare any monsters away. hehehe
Our cats snore. Our dogs snore. My husband snores. I snore.
And yet my husband complains about kindle clicks. Sigh.
But as someone else mentioned, maybe I need to use this as an excuse to buy a K3! hehehe

But it's such a pleasant click! Just above the DS Lite and just below the GBA SP in terms of lovely clickiness, in my opinion.

I was tempted to do this trick a while ago as well... I know that you can make the "speaker" read the text faster. So it would make the page change go faster as well? Tris |

Yes - the pages turn to keep up with the voice. Even on the fastest speed it's slower than I read, but I can live with it. It's very handy when I'm reading while doing something else, like eating messy food or getting my nails done. |

I know my Kindle 3 was making a clicking noise when turning pages and it turned out to be that I had "Voice Guide" activated (in the Settings menu), but had the volume turned down very low (if not all the way). This apparently caused the Kindle's speaker to emit a clicking sound when turning pages. (I was very happy to discover that turning off Voice Guide eliminated the clicks.)
You might check to see if this might be the issue (if Voice Guide even exists on Kindle 2) in case it is not simply the physical clicking sound of your Kindle 2's next page buttons.
