Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

I'll try and make this brief. I have a K2 updated to 2.3.

In the past I've been able to select, let's say a paragraph from a page, that I want to save to the My Clippings page. Unfortunately I don't exactly remember what I was doing to accomplish this.

I don't want to bookmark the page, or create a note.

Recently, I have moved the cursor to the beginning of a paragraph, clicked the 5-way button and selected the text. The text is then underlined but when I go to My Clippings it shows the book info, page location, but the actual selected text isn't shown.

I have provided an example My Clippings below to show what I'm talking about (the American on Purpose clip is what I want, the Imperfection of Spirituality clip is what I'm getting when I'm highlighting the text as mentioned above):

American on Purpose (Craig Ferguson)

An inexplicable bolt of terror shot through my system. Then I remembered what Rock and Roll Susie had said, that fear might be God’s way of saying, “Pay attention, this could be fun,” and I said aloud to whoever was out there, even if it was only me: “Between safety and adventure, I choose adventure.”

The Spirituality of Imperfection: Storytelling and the Search for Meaning (Katherine Ketcham and Ernest Kurtz)

Thanks in advance for any help.

My only ideas are a) it is a pdf file, which does not allow highlighting or notes and b) you need to try a reset.

Thanks Susan. It's not a .pdf file and the "problem" occurs w/ other Books. I'll try the reset.

Hmmm....tried a hard reset (holding the power button for 20 seconds) and then tried highlighting paragraphs of a couple of different books. Unfortunately, same result, no highlighted text in My Clippings....just the book reference and date and location.

Have you by any chance highlighted a whole bunch of stuff in the books where you are having the problems?  You can only highlight about 10% before the limitation of fair use kicks in.  This is to keep people from copying large chunks of a book.

No, I've got very few entries in My Clippings....maybe 10 paragraphs. I find My Clippings very useful, knew how to get the entires in there, but must be doing something wrong.

My K2 is updated to 2.3 and I do not notice this behavior. I have recently highlighted sentences in books of various formats (.azw, .mobi, .azw1) and in each case the highlighted text was copied into the My Clippings.txt file. (All of the books I tested have Text-to-Speech enabled in case that makes a difference.)

I believe that the limit to how much can be highlighted is determined by book and not by what is in the My Clippings.txt file. When you look in the "My Notes & Marks" for the specific book, are there several entries? I notice that the book you give as an example has "Text-to-Speech:  Not enabled". It may be that the publisher set a very low limit on what may be highlighted. (I remember this as a discussion on KB earlier but did not find it.)
