So on a whim yesterday, I bought a K2 (its on the way here)...and I already have a K3.  I love the K3, but so far haven't found a good way to "hold" it...I'm looking to see if the K2 is easier to hold.  Am I nuts?  Those of you that have or had a K2 and K3 - care to comment?  Do you find it easier to hold?

It's larger, so you might find it easier to hold. I think you'll be disappointed in the screen.

I am afraid of that  Embarrassed  I'm hoping that it wont be too "light" for me.

Have you tried buying a cover for your Kindle?

I bought my sister a Kindle for Christmas and thought she would buy her own cover. She whined and I ended up giving her my cover. Long story short ended up using my Kindle without a cover for about a week till the new one I bought arrived and I definitely prefer the feel of my Kindle in a cover.

The good news is for a K2 they are not making anymore of those covers. I bought my daughter a K2 last year and was able to order her a designer cover that cost like a $100 last year for $19.99 this year on the Amazon site.

So if you go looking for a K2 cover on Amazon right now I bet you'll get a good deal.

I've tried two covers for my K3 so far, both M-Edge cases...and I do like them for reading on the bus or in the car, actually anywhere that I'm sitting down.  But when I'm in bed the cases make it uncomfortable to hold and so I tend to take it out.  So I'm hoping the K2 will be bigger and easier to hold....Oh well, if anything I will use my K3 for everything else and then the K2 just for reading in bed.

i found the k2 easier to hold . The k3 got rid of all that unused space that Iused to grip the K2. Ive gotten more used to holding the K3 and do like the smaller size overall.
As far as the screen contrast, the K3 is a bit better but i really dont see the drastic difference there is suppose to be.

I don't have a K2 but I read on my K1 and K3 daily.  There is a huge difference in the screens but unless I hold them side by side, the lighter print on my K1 isn't a problem. (K1 takes bubble baths with me.  The K3 is with me at all other times)   Smiley

Hopefully, you'll get as much use out of both of your kindles as I do from mine.  So, no.  I don't think you're any crazier than the rest of us. Grin

I find the K3 easier to hold without a cover than the K2, but hopefully you won't.  I find them both easier to hold in a case.  For the K2 I have a rainbow of Noreves, and for the K2 I have an Oberon.  Recently someone showed me their K2 and the screen looked as good as my K3.

Bubble baths!?!?  LOL!  I have vacation plans coming up in a couple of months...so I might put the K2 in a ziploc bag and take it with me to the beach Smiley  Thanks for not thinking that I'm crazy...I seriously had doubts after I hit the "buy" button.  It was easily justified until that point, and then reality hit that I will now have two kindles!!

There was a post on this board about the screen comparison (if I can find it, I'll post a link), but it was interesting in that they showed an earlier K2 vs a K3 vs a later version K2...and interestingly there was a difference between the two K2.

Me too! Every time he uses it when I'm around, he says he's forgotten how to use it. I think it's some sort of using-gadgets-in-front-of-people anxiety disorder.

I don't think buying a K2 is crazy. I loved my K2. Didn't notice a huge difference between the screens, either.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm still reading on my Kindle 2.  The 5-way controller is a little harder to push down, but it's only an issue if you're playing a lot of games where you have to keep pressing the controller over and over again.

Have you tried wrapping your Kindle in one of those rubber skins?  It fits around the Kindle, but gives it a soft rubbery texture. Some people say it makes it easier to grip the Kindle with your fingertips!

Welcome to the insane asylum!

When you get your K2 you will find it is larger than a K3. You will find the page buttons are larger as well. You will find that the controls are at the top and side (on/off, volume) instead of down on the bottom. It has a nice shiny metal back. You will also find that you have a row of number keys for your convenience. Yes, the contrast will be a little less than the K3, but just read it in good lighting.

The resale is holding up for these things and with the some of the posts we see here and other places you can tell there are a lot of people that still like the K2.

We have a choice. You can have a K2 or a K3 or even a K1!

They are all good.

It is all good.

Enjoy,
Scott

We have one K2 and one K3. I enjoy reading with both of them, but I prefer the K3. Either way, it doesn't take long to get used to holding it and operating the controls.

I'm going to look into a rubber skin for the K3...but I LOVE the way it looks in the m-edge cases that I have.  I'll give it a shot.

HAHA...yeah, I was surprised how much the K2 were still going for!  There's definitely some love (or is it preference) left for the K2.

I love my K2 and am no where near ready to trade up for a K3. I gave my husband a K3 for Christmas, so I can compare the two side by side, and in my opinion, I prefer the screen contrast on the K2. The K3 screen contrast is harder on my eyes than the K3, too much contrast? Who knows.

I hope the K2 works out for you, if not, than you have the best of both world by owning the K3 also!

I would say the disadvantage of the k2 would be lack of software upgrades.
But that only is a real issue if it is an upgrade you really want.
Most of the upgrades dont seem like anything critical to me.

What would I be missing?  I think the only two things would be web browsing (K3 is better, but then again its not what like to use the kindle for) and maybe the layout/format for periodicals.  Anything else?  I can't wait to get the K2 Smiley  Should be here today (finger crossing).
