I'm a Kindle Newbie and I'm trying not to screw things up any more than I already have.

I've ordered 4 books for my new Kindle and I also signed up for the Kindle for Android.  When I launched my Android app I noticed that a couple of my books were archived on my phone and that there were 3 classic books already on my android app.  I wanted to archive the classic books and unarchive my books so the screen wouldn't look so cluttered.  I removed one of the classic apps by selecting "remove from the device" and it did just that - Removed the book completely from my device.  So my question is  - - is that classic book gone forever or is there some way to get it back?

On a similar note I have a kindle users manual on my phone that was in the archive that I accidentially downloaded.  I really didn't want this to appear on my main Android Kindle App screen but now I'm afraid that if I remove this manual I'll never be able to get it back.

Can anyone please help?

If K for Android works the same as the other Kindle apps then the book you removed should be in your archived items for you to download again if you want, as would the manual if you 'delete' that. Have you checked in your archived items, both on the phone and on your Kindle? Everything not downloaded onto the device should be in your archives. The only things that should get deleted for ever when you remove them from the devices are samples, periodicals and items bought from somewhere other than Amazon.

I think, recently, Amazon has been including a few free/public domain books automatically when you get the app for Android. . . . .it is possible that if you delete that from your Android device, it might be gone forever.  And it's possible it's NOT available for other Kindle devices that may be registered to the same account.

Otherwise, Lin is absolutely correct:  you buy it once, you can use it on any device.  Amazon keeps a copy available for you in your archive and you can get it back any time.  Even while it's on one device, you can download it and read it on another device on the same account -- up to 6 (usually) devices at a time.  It's a great way to share books among family members or within a small group of friends. I would also make a note of the book you deleted and ask Amazon Kindle CS if there is  a way to get it back.

If it's a free public domain book, you don't need to - just look the title up and redownload it for free anyway.

I have the Kindle for Android app on my phone, but got it before they started including freebies. All archived books remain on your Kindle account, and you can redownload them at any time. Have you looked at your archived books to see if that classic one is still there? It should be. Usually I just keep whatever book I'm currently reading on my Droid, and sync between my Kindle and Droid. The rest remain in my archive.

I'm not sure how the free ones that they download for you work, but I would assume that they'd remain in the archive, and you can redownload when you want.
