Winner of the Garcia Award for Best Fiction Book of 2010
1st Place Fantasy Book in the Reader Views Reviewers Choice Awards 2010
Winner of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards 2011 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Category

Cinderella is dead and one of Odin’s hellhounds has gone rogue.  The Woodcutter, protector of peace between the Twelve Kingdoms of Man and the Realm of Faerie, is charged with finding the beast and returning him to the Wild Hunt.  Unfortunately, it seems the forces of evil have other plans.

Leaving his beloved wife and the comforts of his quiet home, the Woodcutter finds a pixie dust trade raging out of control and a power hungry Wicked Queen who will stop at nothing to take over the world.  The lives of Snow White, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood are at stake in this dark, fairytale mash-up—and the Woodcutter is the only one who can help them.

It is a race against time as the Woodcutter travels east of the sun and west of the moon, up beanstalks and down to the bowels of the earth to unravel a mystery that can only be described as Grimm.

Irene Watson, Managing Editor of Reader Views commented, “In The Woodcutter, Kate Danley skillfully weaves her story around well-know fairy tales, bringing in characters that readers can relate to. Through her adept writing, she conveys fantasy and mystery making this book a definite page-turner."

Welcome to KindleBoards, Kate, and congratulations on your book!

(If you've gotten this welcome before, it's just as a matter of housekeeping. We like to put a copy of the "welcome letter" in each book thread.  It doesn't mean you've done anything wrong, it just helps us know that you know the rules.)

A brief recap of our rules follows:

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information.  You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days.  Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link.  Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows.  This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles!  Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post.  For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:
Authors: KindleBoards Tips & FAQ.

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum.  Be sure to read it thoroughly and check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

Oh, and one more thing:  be sure to check out the index threads at the top of the Book Bazaar. . . .there are details there about how you can be listed so that our readers can find you.

Thanks for being part of KindleBoards!  Feel free to send us a PM if you have any questions.

Just discovered this lovely little review of The Woodcutter on Susan Violante's blog http://blog.susanviolante.com/2011/10/23/the-woodcutter-by-kate-danley---a-book-review.aspx

"It felt like the continuation of fairy tales with the right suspense, drama and action to keep my adult side hooked while my inner child re-visited fairyland…with a twist."

Thank you for the kind words, Susan!

That's a terrific review. The last sentence made me smile:

"I recommend The Woodcutter to all of the grownups, whose inner child still craves some fairy dust!"

Smiley

Cheers

RIGHT?!?!  I don't know this person and I have no idea how they found my book, but the fact they went out of their way to post such a lovely review... It just warms my heart.  You put your baby out there and hope that folks won't call it ugly.  It totally brightened my day.

Just found out about this fantastic review from Akamai Reader.  It TOTALLY made my day!

"Five Stars - I had a glorious time reading this book. I truly couldn’t put it down. The Woodcutter is a fascinating protagonist and a noble one. The climax of this story doesn’t disappoint either. I won’t give anything away, but it was truly heart-stopping."

The Woodcutter just got a new pair of duds!  Look at the gorgeous cover, designed by Char Marie Adles.

The dust jacket for the paperback version is on its way!
