My Kindle now has lines going across the top where the status line should be...you know where the title and my battery life is displayed. There are also a few very faint lines going down the middle but it doesn't interfere with my reading at this time. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it? I've only had it a little over a year. I have dropped it a couple of times but not onto hard surfaces, just carpet.

Sounds like a broken screen. Can you post pics? It's the only way to be sure.

unfortunately, my husband is out of town for a week and I am technically challenged. *G* If it is a broken screen (which I can't see any breaks) will it just get worse?

WOW!! Hard to believe. I am stunned. I have never had service like that before. I called the customer service number and they are replacing my kindle. I should have it by Saturday...2 days! They are supplying me with a pre-paid label to send my broken kindle back to them within 30 days. I love Kindle!!! Thanks for the help here. I didn't think I could do anything about it since it's been over a year.

Amazon's customer service is legendary.   I've even heard stories about Amazon shipping out a replacement Kindle overnight.

They probably figure that you're going to use your Kindle to buy e-books from Amazon - so it's in their best interest to make sure your Kindle is in working condition.

I do wonder since I generally have only "purchased" FREE books from Amazon if they would be as helpful.  I guess I hope I don't have to find out.

Amazon will be just as helpful if you have a problem.

I was just posting in another thread about how many positive stories are on this board about people praising Amazon Kindle customer service.  It's very reassuring to know that one can expect a pleasant interaction with them if it is ever necessary to seek their assistance.
