So I bought a Kindel 3 yesterday, and I've only added a pdf file so far.
Unfortionately for some reason the bottom of each page is missing some lines. I can't figure out why.
I've checked the original file and made sure the lines do exist.
I've played with all teh zoom settings and all I've managed to accomplish is cropping a few more lines.
I can't scroll down past the viewable page to see the hidden lines below.

Anyone any ideas?
I know I could have the file converted but I'd rather solve this problem since the kindel is supposed to read pdf's.
Thanks

I can't answer your specific problem, but here's some general advice:

The Kindle does support PDFs, but they are not the ideal format to use on a Kindle.

PDFs define the exact page layout, in that they say exactly where lines of text will appear and exactly what will be on each page. The idea of the Kindle, though, is that the lines of text and page breaks are determined by the font and text size that the user selects.

As a result, PDFs are definitely not the best format for reading books on the Kindle. You may have to stick with PDFs if, for example, the book is a text book with complex page formatting, but the reading experience will not be good.

If this is the first book you've put on the Kindle so far, I would suggest you get a proper Kindle formatted book to learn how the Kindle works. The user guide is a good one, otherwise go to Amazon and "buy" any of the many free ebooks on there.

For the particular book you're looking at, I would recommend you try converting it and see if the results are any better.

Also, I just spotted this (http://blog.diannegorman.net/2010/09/kindle-3-keyboard-shortcuts-et-al/):

"Nudge the selection frame when a PDF document is zoomed, or when panning a zoomed document: SHIFT+5-way direction"

Any help?

No it didn't work Sad
I've downloaded a programme that converts to mobi, so that'll have to do. Apparently it does it with my friends kindle using the same pdf and other pdfs work fine with him so It might just be that pdf. Either way I'm not gonna worry about it too much for now.
Thanks

It does sound like there is something odd about the pdf. As I said, handling of pdf's on the Kindle is not perfect, but I've never seen the problem you describe before.

For conversion, there are at least a couple of options to try:

If you use the email method of getting the document to your Kindle, you can put "convert" as the subject line of the email and Amazon will convert it as they send it.

You didn't say which programme you've downloaded for conversion, but the most versatile ebook management/conversion tool is probably Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/).

I have a K2 but with many PDFs on it. When I have trouble seeing the bottom of the page in a particular PDF, I find that I can sometimes see the bottom if I change the orientation (Screen Rotation from the Font [Aa] key) of the Kindle to Landscape instead. This seems to work as the page has to be shown in multiple sections (usually 2 but sometimes 3). It also might be because fit-to-screen (portrait orientation) changes to fit-to-width when in landscape orientation.
