Text to Speech Battery

How long does the battery last if I use Text to Speech very often for hours and hours each day?

I usually charge my KDXG every other day. It all depends on the hours of usage.

I haven't done a test starting with a full charged battery, but I can do 3-4 hours at full volume on my K2. I only remember getting the low battery warning once.

It might not last as long with music as speech.

Thanks Scott. So I guess maybe with the k3 it might last twice as long so maybe 8 hours. which is not great. i guess the rule would be keep the volume turned down... -- im considering getting a kindle for text to speech but if it only lasts 8 hours i might be better off with an apple itouch/ipod

I don't know much about Apple products, but does the book app for the touch or ipad read?

If you are traveling you can pick up a usb car charger, I got one at Walmart for about $5.

I've not done large amounts of time with text to speech on my kindle 2, but with music it'll last an afternoon on top volume. Haven't run it as hard as I can, because it wasn't from a full charge and it'd be recharged after that point, but it was at least fine for music while we were cleaning.

Any of the experimental functions use a lot more battery. Text To speech, surfing the net and playing games are all battery usage intensive.

   But then again so is downloading 10-15 books at a time which I do from time to time.

   Good rule of thumb the more you use it naturally the more you will have to charge it.

I've recently driven for 5 hours while listening to a book using Text to Speech. Took about half of my battery power. Does anyone make a solar powered USB charger that I could clip to my Kindle cover?

I have really been enjoying text to speech. I find the female voice is more understandable than the male. Sometimes, I play it at maximum speech. At that speed it is too fast to follow, unless I am reading at the same time. Somehow, the same thing from two senses really works. I use it for reading some heavy non-fiction books that are hard for me to slog through.

I read about two to three hours a day...I then use text to speech driving to/from work (about 40 minutes each way).  I usually end up charging the Kindle towards the end of the week, the battery probably has about 1/3rd of the charge left.  So that means about 15 hours of reading and 6 1/2 hours of text to speech.  Hope that helps.

That looks pretty cool...although I don't think I can use it here...Seattle - all clouds and rain!  Maybe during the summer
