Books read on Kindle 2010: 10

I bought the kindle 2 for over a year ago. Love it!!
Now I have bought a kindle 1 too, to have when I walk my cat as I don't want to take my kindle 2 out for that.

Well the thing is... I kind of want a kindle 3 some time too.. But is there any reason to buy it? I'm not selling my kindle 2.
What kind of different uses is there for the kindle? Some of you have all three generations?

The screen of the K3 has better contrast, the K3 weighs less and is smaller, it will hold more books than the K2.

That said, I had a K1 until last May because I saw no need to upgrade it. then it was stolen, so I got a K2 and that is what I use currently. DS#1 got upgraded to a K3G when they came out because it coincided with the beginning of his first year of college, and I felt it was definately worth the upgrade from the K1 he had been using for 2 years.

I don't have all three because I didn't buy the K2 when it was released.  But, I still own a functioning K1 and now  have the K3.  I have loaned my K1 to my SIL to use following her back surgery because she wasn't going to be able to go to the library for quite a long time.  I loved my K1 and was not unhappy with it when I bought my K3.  That said, I'm so glad I bought the K3!  I love the contrast and improved gray scale.... love the size and how lightweight it is... love that it holds more books... love the smaller buttons and controls (even though I sometimes miss my rolling cylinder cursor from my K1).... love that I can have Wi-Fi since I had a VERY hard time getting a signal for Whispernet on my K1.  It's just far superior to my K1 and definitely was the right device to get me to upgrade.

I had a K1 and K3 for a while.  Then sold my K1 . . . and got a DXG.  Like the controller (k3) and joy stick (DXG) much better than the slider / roller, etc. (whatever) on the K1.

You walk your cat?  Tried that once many years ago--ended up being led by cat. Wondered who was walking who. Cheesy

I have a Kindle 1, 2, and 3. I use the Kindle 3 for reading, the Kindle 2 is for emergency use and experimenting with Duokan, and the Kindle 1 is on permanent loan to my younger brother to make him stop complaining about my not being able to loan him books any more.  Grin Grin

I like the K3 the best because of its screen (despite the poor keyboard and five-way controller).

And despite the problems others seem to have, I haven’t had a single issue with any of the Kindles I've bought: no screen cracks, freezing, display wonkiness, etc. Never had to return one.

Other than screen contrast the only real benefit that I can think of is if you have an audible.com account.  You can directly download the audiobooks to the kindle without a computer.  It was not enough for me to buy a new kindle.  But it might be for other people.  (The screen is very noticeably better.  I bought K3 for my mom and dad and it is much better.)

I have a K2 and a K3g.  I had a K1, but gave that to my sister after I pre-ordered my K3g last summer. (should have waited till I had the K3g so I could have gotten a "family photo" of all 3 Kindles together)

I hardly ever use the K2. The K3g gets a lot of use. I havent taken it out into public much, especially since I figured out how to get my personal documents into the Kindle app on my iPod Touch the other day. (the Touch is smaller and easier to carry...)  I think the K2 gets used in my bathroom more often than the k3g does. (ok, this will get people going on that Kindle in the bathroom thread again) The K3g is either on the other side of the room, or I might have left it upstairs and that's why the K2 will get used. Because I'm too tired from having MS to go upstairs and find the K3.

I love both my Kindles tho. I do kind of miss my former K1 too. I loved the big buttons on that one. (with the MS I sometimes have issues with my hands. Those big buttons were great)

I had a k2, but gave it to a close friend when I got my k3.

Right now I have a k3 and a graphite DX. I use the k3 every day and I almost never use the DX, so I guess it was a waste of money for me.  I like the k3 because it fits in my purse, and because it is small and light to hold.

It seems that I just fixate on my favorite Kindle (the k3, right now) and ignore any others that I own.

I had a K1....but really was not happy with it  Tongue and gave it away after I picked up an iPad. I skipped the K2 because I went with the iPad...then found that I really liked reading books more on another device than the iPad, so went and got a K3.  I bought a K2 to see if I liked the button placement better (and I did).  So...I use the K2 as my everyday throw in my bag and leave in the car device.  While the K3 gets used for my business trips, reading stuff in the office and vacations.  I am babying the K3 and using the K2 as the heavy-usage device.  The only thing I did was change the font on the K2...as to me I saw a huge difference between the K3 and K2 in the font/contrast and had to change it so it wouldn't bug me Smiley

Only one Kindle for me. But then I've only had mine a few weeks so it'd be weird if I'd moved on to buy more already, wouldn't it?  Wink
