At what point should I turn my K2 off? If I don't touch it for a week or so is it ok to be on "sleep"?

Doesn't make much difference. I've never regularly turned off any of my Kindles. The battery drain is miniscule in either case.

I've never turned off any of the Kindles I've owned (have had all 3 models).  They use next to no power in sleep mode, and wake up faster than they turn back on, so there's really no reason to ever turn it off.

The full reboot uses enough extra battery that if you read your kindle frequently, I think it would equal the battery savings of turning it all the way off.

I had the unlighted official case, and before I ever saw it cause a reboot I knew that it was because the battery was draining very quickly.

Wow, shows how much I know. I didn't know there was a difference in sleep and off. I guess I just let it go to sleep. Smiley

sleep is when you quickly slide the power button and get the screensaver.

off is when you hold the button long enough to get a blank screen.

Sleep is better.

But, if you have had it in sleep or even off for longer than a week, your battery will run down.  Your kindle wants love and should be turned on every couple of days....

I've been wondering about my K2.  I go weeks, sometimes longer, without touching it.  Should it be turned off?

Vlad is back, and this time he's hungry. I mean, really hungry. I could explain the plot of this one, but I think I'm going to eat, instead.  Steven Brust's synopsis of Druz.

That sounds like a case where turning it all the way off would be worthwhile.

Yeah, if it's going to be more than a week or two between uses, I'd say that's the one time to turn it off.

I don't think I've gone a week without using mine since I got my first Kindle back in early 2009.
