I just purchased the newest generation of Kindle (the $114 version).  My weakness is that I enjoy reading books by and about celebrity types such as Keith Richards, Shania Twain, Rob Lowe, Dick Van Dyke, Ashley Judd, Meredith Baxter etc.  As you may know, many of these books include photos.

Do "Kindle Editions" of these books include these photographs, and more importantly, is the Kindle itself able to adequately display them?

Thanks for your time in posting a reply to my question.

Photographs are OK, but not impressive as they are 16 shade greyscale.

Sometimes not all illustrations are included in a Kindle edition.  Perhaps reader reviews on Amazon will tell you specifics about books you are interested in reading.

Wishiwuz1--

Welcome to KindleBoards!  If you have a chance, head on over to Introductions and tell us a little bit about yourself.

As Elk said, the photographs are legible but not great.  Sometimes they look better if I view them in the Kindle for PC app, depending on how the image was formatted for the Kindle.

It can also be a problem if you're reading some classic children's literature.  For example, I've found an e-book editions of "Robin Hood" with the original illustrations by N.C. Wyeth, but of course they're in black and white.

Having said that, I still like to see the illustrations in black and white -- some of them look pretty good in the 16-shaded "grayscale" that my Kindle is using. And there's some books where the original illustrations *were* in black and white -- like the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories and (of course) Alice in Wonderland!

Hi wishiwuz1. You've hit on the only flaw I've found in my Kindle. It's not color and book covers and other pics don't look real great without it.  Sad
