Are "Kindle USA and UK" totally independent discussion boards?

I just joined kindle UK and wonder if that's necessary to promote books for UK sales. They seem different. Even their signature setup is different. I wonder if any authors/readers here are on Amazon UK.  Please feel free to share any info you may have. Wish you all the best.

Yes, you need to promote specifically for the UK. Reviews from the US do not carry over to the UK. You'll find some of the same people over there, but mostly they're all UK residents. A very friendly lot too.

If by Kindle UK, you mean Amazon.co.uk's discussion boards, and by Kindle USA you mean Amazon.com, then what Joyce said previously.

If by Kindle USA you mean KindleBoards, here where you've posted the question, then please know that KindleBoards is independent of Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk.  From the bottom of each page on KindleBoards:

Many authors who are members here also post at both Amazon.com and at Amazon.co.uk, but KindleBoards is not affiliated with either.

I wonder why mostly UK residents only.  All the books USA authors have published are also sold in UK. Don't you need to be on UK kindle boards to promote them! I am just asking because I don't know how it works. Just trying to learn from veteran members like you.

I am a U.K author. It is funny, as I don't actually tend to market for the U.K. I focus more on the U.S because pretty much every author, fan and person i meet is from the U.S, lol. BUT I am here, on kindle UK, goodreads, facebook and so on. I started my promotion for my last release about 7 days ago intended for the U.S audience, but my U.K sales have been amazing. My books climbed very high in the rankings, have my latest release and my last release (covers below) climb just outside the top 100, which was amazing. So I would keep doing what you are doing, but mention that the books are open to U.K fans too (especially on your website!)

Good suggestion. I will continue on UK kindle boards. I am getting used to those and like it. Not as much as USA kindle boards, yet. Since you are on both USA and UK kindle boards, please share if any comments on differences/similarities of the two. Thanks Alex. Please take care.

Just to be sure no one gets confused, there are many Kindle and ereader forums out there.  KindleBoards (our forum here) is not affiliated with any other, in the UK or otherwise.  kuforum.co.uk is a fine forum, I'm sure (I'll have to take a look Grin) but it is totally separate and distinct from KindleBoards.
