I think what we really need to do is start randomly tweeting and posting on facebook "pink snowbunnies will ski in hell" just to build an air of mystery around the project.  Grin

I can do this part. In fact, I just did.

I submitted mine the first day too and it was great fun.  I sent it to Rex to eyeball and he liked it so much, he suggested a collaboration.  I'd never worked with another author before and was really flattered to be asked. I hope it gets chosen and that everyone likes it. Smiley

I hope it sells tons and makes lots of that nice green stuff for the animals.

It was very good. I wouldn't be surprised if it was chosen.

It will be interesting, to say the least.

The publisher could be listed as "Kindle Boards Publishing."  Cheesy

We might want to get Harvey's okay before associating it with Kindleboards.

In the meantime, I hope to get a story done for this.  I have a little vignette idea jotted down, but I'm behind on the WIP, and I'll be leaving town on Tuesday.  We'll see....

Deborah, You might want to think about provisions for allowing the authors to later do something on their own with their stories. Say, no publishing elsewhere for 1 year? That way you get sales for the charity, and yet later on, the full rights revert back to the authors and they can do anything they want.

It was intended as a joke sense all the submissions are coming from Kindle Boards, unless I'm mistaken.

Yes, as I understand it, all the submissions are from Kindleboards, and frankly, it's a potential promotional hook and I think Harvey would probably not object -- but if we do consider using it, obviously Harvey would have to give the okay.

Very true. Modwitch can decide if she wants to use it and contact him. She's still in charge of this whole shebang, after all.

Debora is paying for the editing, organizing submission policies and reviewers, and she will be handling the donation accounts and what not. I think any attempt at lobbying for Kindleboards to get credit for submissions by acknowledging them as publisher should be taken offline, and that lobbyist should be pretty respectful when she rejects the idea outright.

Now, please don't soil our fun thread with serious stuff unless it has a chance of being marginally epic. To get this back on topic, here is a picture of a donkey and a jackass playing basketball.

Hey, all.  I don't have a problem with involving/acknowledging Kindleboards, I think that's a great idea.  However, I don't think "publisher" is the place to put them, simply to keep them out of that legal accountability when they aren't really acting as publisher.  I think an acknowledgement in the book and a link to the forums here would be a great thing (at least in the amazon version, not sure how B&N would feel about that!).

As for use of the stories, etc - I have a template one-page contributor agreement that I will make available as soon as I've modified it.  Nothing complicated, but it will lay out the terms for story use (how long the anthology has rights to the story, what happens after that) and that you confirm you have copyright to the story.  Please be patient with me for a few days longer, while I get those details ironed out - they'll be simple, straightforward, and reasonable, I promise  Wink.

My co-workers are suddenly very quiet. I think my random laughter has them worried, and it always seems to be associated with this thread. They are burrowed into their cubes like, well, rabbits in a burrow. (Sorry.)

Excellent banner--truly excellent!

Now I'm going to go somewhere else to take a break from the dubious looks aimed in my direction. Those raised eyebrows can be dangerous!

My first flash fiction story is finally written. I need to cut 21 words (I knew I would go over), come up with a title, and get some feedback. Hubby has the honor of being my first victim. Smiley

Mine is a story that could happen, so I hope it's not too far removed from ninja monkeys and other fantastical creatures.
