Four a.m.? GAHHHHH... that's usually what time I go to bed. I know what you mean. Whenever I have a few days off work (or more), my natural body clock starts tilting more towards what you described. lol. 4am wake up is HARSH. lol. Two weeks into it and I'm still not adjusting nearly as well as I'd like. It doesn't help that my (decadent) husband keeps having gigs that keep him out until 10pm, 11pm... midnight. Catching up on sleep is eating away my weekends (eating away my editing time, lol). Here's hoping I adjust soon... Thanks for commenting on it, TL!

Even nutfuggets can have their opinions. And said nutfugget appears to be one of TL's readers, so s/he may well have read it. The bunnies will rise above .

I don't know whether to be flattered or horrified but I'm leaning toward a combination of the two.
Okey doke.
ETA I just thought of something - do you think they have me confused with Margaret Peterson Haddix, who is a children/YA author?

Sure, anyone can have an opinion, Deb, I agree. But saying the book "is for little kids" is a statement, not an opinion. And it's a false one. I'm guessing that isn't the category you put it in:)
T.L.- I bet you're right. That would explain the confusion.

Okay. The review made me laugh. Seriously. Yep, we published a childrens book with 'Hell' on the cover. Lots of children are going to be disappointed on Christmas morning... Eh. I do agree that it is a false statement, though. If it was just an opinion then no big deal. But I'm pretty sure that most readers will see it for what it is.

(panics and double checks) No, we're good . I agree with Nichole - I think most people will figure a book for kids doesn't have "hell" on the cover. And B&N doesn't let you report a review for that kind of factual problem, so I say we laugh and move on. I don't see a way to reply, either (if we could, I'd just put a nice polite comment to say that it's indeed not a kids' book)...

LOL!! Not really sure how anyone who read it could walk away with the feeling that it is a kiddie book. Although the cover is quite adorable.... The book is of good quality, so people will look past the one star reviews (especially ones that seem like they are just rants) and look for the quality reviews that have reasons for all of the statements they throw out in the review. I thought it was a very good book, but I will NOT be letting my 8-year-old daughter read it - pink, adorable, fluffy bunny or not.

Ya know - the skull on his cap ought to have alerted people that he is a very serious, grown-up bunny. Seriously. Personally, I wouldn't be insulting pink bunnies who ski in hell, but that's just me... They look deadly with the ski poles, too.

Hit me up when a second anthology is in the works, I got some flash fiction to contribute.

Ack. I just wish it wasn't the only review on B&N.
As for Azure's suggestion of a sequel... that'd be cool.
I was actually considering trying to rustle up some people to be part of a halloween themed rapid anthology (to help get me off my very tired booty to finish a certain pre-novel release short story).
So... if there is a sequel to the bunnies... I hope it isn't until after the holidays... lol.

What about a Wicked Cupid anthology? Not wicked as in erotica, but wicked as in mischievous? That would give us a few months to pull things together.

One of the first reviews I got for TBD blasted it for being inappropriate for children. It was never marketed for children. It was also criticized for its (mis?)treatment of Christian doctrine. As you might guess, it was not marketed as Christian fiction.
Sometimes people just pick up a book really wanting it to be Christian YA, and it's just not. Or they really want the cute bunny book to be for their 6 y.o., and it's just not.
It definitely gave me a chuckle. Was glad for the *intense* analysis, the purchase, and the review. (And she can't wait to read the next, so who could ask for anything more?) Short of creating a custom book for every individual reader, you're never going to hit the mark with every individual reader. I think your project is great, personally!!! I just stopped by to say so, and see how sales were going for October, with such a great start for Sept.

Someone (I forget whom...) is organizing a less-mischievous Valentine's anthology for the Kindle, if I recall correctly. I'm waiting for Red Adept to alpha read my entry so I can revise as necessary, submit, and have the editor reject it in terror. Not that there can't be two anthologies of short stories from Kindleboard writers, of course.

About 70 sales for October so far. Things slowed down a fair amount when we fell off the hot new releases list for anthologies, but I'm actually very pleased we haven't just disappeared altogether.

RedTash - They might be confusing the title of your book, This Brilliant Darkness with Frank Perretti's This Present Darkness and that's why they're expecting it to be Christian horror.

Totally! With the fire & snow, you can push it as a Kindle Fire must-read, for Christmas, too. RedTash - They might be confusing the title of your book, This Brilliant Darkness with Frank Perretti's This Present Darkness and that's why they're expecting it to be Christian horror.
She actually emailed me to ask me if this was a Christian horror title along those lines. I thanked her for the Peretti reference, and we had a discussion in which I explained that the book would not fly as Christian fiction, and she tried to convince me that it would. After she read it, she had such strong mixed emotions. She clearly liked it, yet seemed angry that it wasn't Christian fiction. She emailed me about it several times, and also told me several times how much she was valuing our budding friendship, and I haven't heard from her since. *shrug* No biggie, my point was just that some people really WANT to find a certain thing, and are so disappointed when it is not that thing! But most do not take the time to leave an unfair review.

Absolutely no pressure here. None at all. Just a thought.... Like I need traitorous ideas booby-trapping my desperately reduced writing/editing time... But, there they now are. I love that idea, TL Haddix. Love the cover more.
