As a potential contributor, I'm not interested in cover credit covering up Glendon's art.

If I write something and it's accepted, just credit me properly in the interior of the book. That's what matters.

A title and "edited by Deb Geary" is all that needs to be on the cover, IMHO.

Just found the theme song for this collection... a bit off-topic but equally absurdist:

Do you still need submissions?  I have an idea for one.  Let me know!  And what's the deadline?

Also, if someone decides to make an awesome trailer for this, I'll donate a professional voice narration.  (I work full time as a voice actor and could certainly come up with something appropriately ironic.)  Ten stories tied by one outlandish thread...pink snow bunnies from hell.

Or something much better and longer than that.  (although maybe a trailer for flash fiction would also be quite short...  Smiley

For the ten contributors listed in amazon's metadata, I suggest doing what a traditional publisher would do, and list the ten with the best sales numbers (purely for marketing reasons). I'd rather give up my "slot" to an author with more fans than I have, hoping that those fans will try it and be exposed to my work (especially since a goofy premise like this one is probably actually a fairly accurate representation of my stuff in general) Smiley

@Ripley - why can't sci-fi be funny? It's a few hundred words - I know this length is an experiment for a lot of us, but give it a try.  You'd probably need to minimize world building  Cheesy.

So, question.  I asked, and KDP will only let us stick 10 contributors on the book.  We're likely to have more than 10 stories.  My thought was to ask the judges to pick their 10 faves, and those authors would go up on the contributor list, and then a full list of contributors would go in the blurb??

Sci-fi can certainly be funny, but my humor is mostly of the tongue-in-cheek punny play on words sort. I'm excited about the challenge though. Sometimes I need to be pushed out of my comfort zone; it's scary at the time, but I always accomplish something I never thought I could. I'm wondering if one of the cut scenes from my book might lend itself to flash fiction, but I also have a brainstorming file to pull from.

As to attribution.... I personally don't need to be on the cover--blurb and inside would be great. Edited by on the cover is all I would expect. I like Matt's idea, for Amazon's metadata, to list the names that will drive sales.

YES - still taking submissions!!  I'll take anything that comes in until June 15.

As for contributor attributions...  My thought was to put the title and a funny one-liner on the cover (I like Lisa's!).  No names, let the graphic speak.  And everyone will be listed on a cover page, and in the blurb.  The issue for amazon is that I can only list 10 authors (where you see names up by the title) - so for those people, the book will be associated with their other books, I think.  And Matt's right - this might be a marketing advantage for us, although I'd offer up that it's not sales rank that matters, but genre Smiley.

Anyhow, it sounds like no one is tied up about how we do this, so we'll figure something out.  I'm grateful everyone's taking this in the spirit of fun in which it was conceived!

I can't believe how fast some of you are.  Must put butt in chair.  Also - I'm taking submissions, but not reading them.  Don't be offended at my generic "thanks" reply - I don't want to read them until I get mine done.

It's only 8:12 a.m. here and there's already four pages in this thread and you have several submissions. Give me a little time to wake up properly and I will do my best for the pink bunny cause.

I have my concept done for my contribution, and hope I can pull this off.  If I can, it will be cool.  If I can't, I'm going to pout and...eat chocolate.  And rework it until it works.

There is a town of Hell, MI.. which is just down the road from Angel's Pass.

Those names are killing me here. I found them by using maps.google.com and just putting in the word Hell. Then I looked at the satellite view.. it's a very pretty area actually.

Bookstore there named "Books From Hell." The motel "Dam Site Inn".

This thread (and the flash fiction that I wrote) has me considering the possibility of a series of novels (or novellas) about Johnny the Ninja Monkey and his clan's eternal feud with the pink snowbunnies.

Everyone wave at our editor Smiley.

 Grin  I've inspired greatness  Cheesy.

My husband thinks it's a sign of collective insanity that this number of people can come up with a page or two for a pink snowbunnies story prompt.
