Drenfrow - I am going with To Say Nothing of the Dog for this month. Funny and quirky sounds great to me. It is too hot for anything serious, and the description of the book on Amazon sounds as though I will really like it.
Geoffrey - thanks again for putting this game together for all of us. I have found so many new books to read, both the ones assigned to me and also book titles suggested for other players. I love looking through all of the suggested books. I find new ones to read each month, but also get to recognize some "old friends" from prior months. This game has really expanded my reading horizons. I look forward to it every month.

WOW. The description just blew me away as I was updating my spreadsheet ... I may be reading this later this month ....
Those Who Save Us is a very good book. I wasn't sure it was going to be my cup of tea, but wow, I loved it! Once I got into the story I didn't want to put it down. If you end up reading it this month, Geoffrey, let me know what you think.

Al I am slightly confused, I even deliberately went to.com and searched (as opposed to.co.uk) and found them but there is a sneaky part of amazon top left small writing that still shows me as uk region even though I went to.com Does anyone know a way for future months or will I have to pass my ideas through Geoffrey so they can be checked in the US by a US account

Yay, Geoffrey! I am so excited that you picked that one. It was my favorite of the choices It's interesting, especially to me, because I read it right as we studied the Triangle Factory Fire in one of my women's studies classes last semester

Hmm, that is interesting. You might be able to do it by logging out of .co.uk, clearing the cookies from your computer, then checking .com

Geemont, I think I'll probably read both, but I'll need to make the decision in a few days, once I'm not busy.
Berrytastic, my immediate responses aren't available for kindle. I should have recommendations out by the end of today.

KindleGirl, Here are my recommendations for you. I think they stretch your usual genres just a little. My Best Friends Girl by Dorothy Koomson (this was one of the first books I read on my Kindle and I like Dorothy Koomson's take on being a single British female. While this could be called Chick Lit, it is not at all typical of the genre) Regression by Kathy Bell (one of our own KB authors. FYI, this is the first of a trilogy and the third in the series isn't due out until November this year.) I was only going to post two books, but I couldn't resist. I love this book and it is now on sale at Amazon as one of their Sunshine Deals at $2.99. Such a good deal, I highly recommend it even if you don't choose it for this game. The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy

Anna I hope I choose something you haven't read yet for this month. The first I chose for you is : My Soul To Take The second choice woould be Invisible Tears: , It is a good book but is alittle disturbing: Also a third choice just in case, it is one that was recomened in this game to me and countless others: Hopefully I foun one you haven't read and would like to read. If not just ask me for another one.

Hi Tripp! Alright, I have two for you. The first is Blood of Requiem, by Daniel Arenson. This book is absolutely fantastic. It focuses on a race of dragon-men (definitely not horror; just straight fantasy). This is the most recommended book on the Criminally Underrated Indie thread and it totally deserves that title. For under $3, this is a massive steal. The second is Shadows of Wormwood. Based on your typical genres, I think you really might like it. It's one I picked up on a whim and fell in love with. The main character is a 13-year-old girl whose brother died while serving overseas. Her family is falling apart and she plans on running away. When her little brother becomes to the target of a bully, she decides to step up and protect him. Leslie, thanks for the picks! I'll check them both out.

Tripp....it was a hard decision, but I have decided to go with The Prince of Tides. It looks like a long one so it will take me a while to get thru it, but I'll keep you posted. I started it this morning while I was on the treadmill and it seemed like I was reading forever before the % changed. Seems to get rave reviews so I'm looking forward to it.

Solace, I've got a couple ideas for you this month. Two very different books I've read in the last year or so that I greatly enjoyed. I believe this is Lethem's first book. It's a science fiction/noir detective novel on acid. Or "make", as the case may be. Structured similar to the Canterbury Tales, this is one of the top science-fiction books of all time. It's allegedly the first of four-book series, but I haven't felt any need to read further. This strongly stands alone. Hope you find something you like! If neither does it for you, let me know and I'll pull out a couple more.

KindleGirl, Wow, I looked up how many pages to this book and was shocked. I don't remember it being as long as it is. That must be because I loved it so much that I never noticed. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I have read all of Pat Conroy's books and I consider this to be his best. Enjoy! Samantha, I have decided to go with Shadows of Wormwood. I have read a fair amount of fantasy in this game and love it (and I have no problems with dragons...) but the synopsis of Shadows of Wormwood caught my interest more. Thanks for the recommendation.

For MoyJoy, a couple choices, depending on whether you're in the mood for fiction or nonfiction: The Phoenix Guards by Steven Brust. While this is the first in a series, it's still pretty much a stand-alone book (after all, the next book is titled Five Hundred Years After). It is both an original fantasy story and at the same time an homage to (and a bit of a parody of) Dumas' Musketeer books. It's a pretty long book, if that matters to you, though that makes the $9.99 price a better value. American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot by Craig Ferguson (or should I say, "TV's Craig Ferguson"? ). I found this to be alternately humorous, fascinating, poignant, and inspirational. Hiyah NogDog! Hmmmmm, tough choices... neither I'd gravitate to on my own which is what makes this game so awesome. I'm going to try a sample of each and decide after checking them out!

MissStar, I am going to take a chance and recommend three different books by the same author. I have read each of these multiple times. Crystal Singer by Anne McCaffrey I have read two different versions. The first was as a set of four short stories published in the late 70s/early 80s in four collections of serialized short stories. The second was as this novel which is the first of a trilogy. To Ride Pegasus by Anne McCaffrey This is also the first book of a trilogy. Parts of this novel were previously published as short stories in the late 60s/early 70s. Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey This is the first of the books by Anne McCaffrey that I read. Of course, if these do not work for you, let me know and I will identify books by a different author. I can also identify ones published much more recently.
