The New York Times is reporting that LJB (author of The Cat Who books) passed away today at the age of 97.
I enjoyed her books.

Wow, I had no idea she was that old! I guess she was just a library staple for so long...I just never thought about it.

That is a shame. I enjoyed her stories, but the later ones were not as good as the earlier ones, perhaps due to her advanced age.

I loved her "The Cat Who . . ." books. I believe I read most of them. She will be missed.

Really? Wow. Just wow. My mom bought/read all her books. They're still sitting on a bookshelf in my office alongside Agatha Christie's books. 97. I hope she lived a great life. RIP.

I suspect hers is a life to be celebrated, not mourned. Count me as one who enjoyed a lot of her books, although I stopped reading the new ones in the last years because they did seem less. I did know she was of advanced age because at least one of her books had a picture and she looked fragile.

She always (until the last few years anyway) had pairs of Siamese cats named for the characters in her books, Coco and YumYum. About ten years ago we invited her to come be our keynote speaker at the Cat Writers Association conference and her publicist declined. Ms Braun was one of those writers who only became a "name" author well after she'd retired from her real (newspaper) job. She created a whole genre, and so many others of my colleagues followed in her paw-steps: Carole Nelson Douglas, Shirley Rousseau Murphy . . . incidentally, look up their books if you like cat mysteries.  |

Oh! I'd forgotten about those books... I loved them in college. Wonderful, quick, fun reads. Really delightful stuff.
