Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

Was wondering how Angee and her family are doing?

I have a prayer request please.  I started my new job Jan. '09.  I have not been able to find a place to live anywhere near where I'm currently working for the last 18 months.  I have been traveling on Monday mornings 100 to 120 miles, depending on which county we're working in, and then going back home later in the week.  I have looked and looked at different apartments, houses, etc.  I can't seem to find anything in my price range, or anything that's worth what they are asking.  Anyway, the traveling is getting to me and I really need to find something acceptable soon.
Thank you,

Deb I will be praying that you will find a place to live. I know the commute wears you down.

I also have a prayer request. Jay & I have to get legal custody of our grandchildren Dillan & Lexy. I had prayed it would not come to this but in order to get them in school, get them medical care if needed, etc. we have no choice. Please pray for us and please continue to pray for my daughter Krystal who has gotten on the wrong path. I can't chance depending on her because she has proven to be irresponsible. After 18 months of this I am still in disbelief that I have a daughter on drugs. What happened??? Thank you!

Deb - I pray for the Lord to include in his will a solution for your problem.

Linda - Oh how my heart breaks for you. I have a friend who had gone through much of what you are. I will never stop praying for you.

Deb - I am praying that your housing situation works out.  That is a VERY long commute.

Linda - you and your family are in my prayers.  I pray that God will help you provide the safe haven that your grandchildren need, and that He will help your daughter to find the way back.  Remember that you are doing the Lord's work and know that He will be there to support you through the tough times.

Linda, I am so sorry you, your husband and grandchildren are going through this.  I have a friend whose daughter is going through the same thing.  It's so scary to not be able to help your adult children when you know they have all the right tools for making a good decision and yet, the wrong decisions still happen.  Drugs are so powerful and way too easily accessible to anyone these days.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

May I just say thank you to all the people here that pray of everyone.  I am not a religious person and never really understood the whole "I'll pray for you" thing.  I never understood how much it would mean to hear somebody say "I will pray for you".  Well, until yesterday.  My kids tae kwon do teacher asked if she and her family could pray for my son.  I was surprised and not sure of what to say.  In the end I said thank you and left.  I thought about it the whole way home and by the end of the trip I was in tears totally moved that someone I barely knew would care  that much.  I am sure that people who ask for the prayer requests here are a lot worse off than my son but I would still like to thank everyone for what they are doing to provide comfort for others.  You truly are a wonderful bunch.

Meg,
I also absolutely believe in the power of praying to the God who made the universe for the needs of our friends and acquantances.
And I also know that it helps to encourage someone that has tough spot to be strong.
We are here to do both.
In love for our fellow man.

Just sayin......

Hi Meg! I like the others believe in the power of prayer and have had prayers answered many times in my life.  I will be praying for you and your son.  Smiley Feel free to ask for specific needs if you are comfortable, if not we pray for each other in general. I heard a song on the Christian radio station I listen to on my commute to work this morning, "Lord We Need You Now."  I thought how true that is!

My friend Ron is having a procedure for his kidney stones this afternoon at 3:15.
He's been a dear friend and prayer warrior.  He's been having some problems for about 3 years, and they just can't seem to get rid of the ones they will be working on today.

Heard from my oncologist this morning.  MRI results are the same as January.  I have to have another MRI next January.  So not 100% clear, but nothing new either.  So overall, good news.

I got to see the triplets today. Aiden was happy and smiling. They are five months old and except for Aiden's color he looks good. His size is comparable to his sister. His brother is bigger than the other two. I was very happy to meet he and his siblings and parents for the first time. They thank you for your prayers.

New member who asked for prayer for her brother.  Since this thread is sometimes hard to find, I thought I'd link her thread for those who might miss it.
