Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

Good Morning Friends.
I'm back at home/work.  We had a great weekend with family - we celebrated Daddy's 65th birthday on Saturday and then went to the lake with some of my cousins Sunday/Monday.  I'm thankful that we have so much family near us.
Thinking of all of you today.

sjc, have a good day friend - special hugs to you.

Good morning. Everyone is in my thoughts.

They're putting in a trach tube (not sure if they did it yesterday or if they're doing it today) so that she doesn't become dependent on the ventilator) This will help because she'll be able to communicate more. She needs the extra help with her breathing because the broken ribs (7 of them) are preventing her from taking the deep breaths that she needs. Not sure when they're scheduling an angiogram.  Hopefully this week.

At the moment, they expect her to stay in ICU for another 7-10 days, then a regular room for another 7-10 days, then rehab for 4-6 weeks.

She has osteoporosis. According to the Drs, the broken ribs are common. They're all directly around the sternum. While I was there, the nurses kept asking her if she was in pain and she kept saying no.. They didn't discover the broken ribs until after I left. That's why she went back on the ventilator. The broken ribs were making her breath fast and shallow. Luckily, we know now.

Missing you in the GM thread.

Now that hubs has gone back to work, my schedule is starting to get back to normal.. I'll be back to posting regularly instead of wherever I happen to land first.

Oh Heather; Let's hope the trach helps.  It's no wonder she can barely breathe with 7 broken ribs.  The poor soul.  The toll it must be taking on you must be miserable.

WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS:  I was supposed to go to Vegas 15-20 th with my girl cousins.  Paid for (no insurance).  Was supposed to be my cheer me up trip from DH being a real pain in the patootie.  FOUND out hours ago; that my Dad has blockages in both legs.  Going to operate on the Right leg 1st:  GUESS WHEN:  the 15th...there goes my trip.  I couldn't possibly go and have a good time.  He's already got 5 stents in his heart...now this.  What to do?

June:  Thinking and praying for your friend.

Prayers to all.

Good morning,

June I have added your sister to my prayer list, what is her name?

SJC sorry to hear about your dad. I continue to lift you and your husband in prayer. I hope you can take some time for yourself real soon.

Heather I pray your Mom is on the road to recovery.

Vet I continue to pray for pain relief for your sister.

Praying for all of you.

I had a meltdown last night after being up since 5, getting kids off to school, working an 8 hour day, getting supper and 2 hours of homework with Lexy. I felt like I was at the end of my rope. I was feeling sorry for myself thinking why am I raising kids at 61 when I should have time for me and Jay?  I felt trapped. I laid right on my bedroom floor and cried and prayed. Feel better this morning. Please keep my family in your prayers.

Oh Linda, I know it's hard. But, you're doing so much for those kids. Take the time to cry. You deserve it! I think about you everyday. I may be in your position sooner than I think, three grands.

Thank you Margaret, her doctors haven't taken her meds away yet. She has so much anxiety over not knowing what to expect.

To everyone, you're in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Linda, sometimes a good cry helps you cope. You have to find some way to relieve the stress. I know you are doing a great job and before you know they will be grown and you will wonder where time flies.

Everyone I have you in my prayers.

Linda, I have added you to my prayer list. Although I don't know the details of hour situation, I can piece together enough to know that you have your hands full with all that you are doing for everyone. It sounds to me as though you have every right to have a meltdown occasionally. Hang in there, and know that you have people praying for you.

The others of you who need prayer continue to be on my prayer list, as well.

Prayers to you all. I think of you all often even though I am rarely on anymore... I have tried to spend more time on here in the past few days... hope you all know you are always in my thoughts and prayers daily.
Meredith: YOU are in our prayers and thoughts.  I have VERY DEFINITELY noticed your scarceness on these boards.  I hope all is OK and I miss you terribly.  Please peek in as often as you can.  Know that we truly care.  M'aam... Wink

LINDA:
I think I cried with you.  I'm like a dam let loose lately; off and on.  I'm a mess.  BUT I think Heather is right:  we do feel better after a good cry. In my case it's just too much all at once:  DH problems, Ill parents, Son out of work, Ultra Sound, Car Accident, Dad's surgery....blah blah blah.

THANKS:
For all your prayers and well wishes.  The sad part about my dad needing blockage surgery...the surgery is one week from today on his and Mom's wedding anniversary.  My mother said that she always had gorgeous weather on her day; so maybe it will bring good things that day too. I give her so much credit with such a positive attitude all the time; after battling cancer and now this.  GLASS 1/2 full!!
I canceled my trip (obviously) now have to see if I can get doctor to write to airline so I can get a full refund instead of partial...but that is the least of my worries.

PRAYERS TO ALL.
Dearest Lord, we pray to you for:  health, strength, courage, wisdom, patience:  We thank you for your many blessings; and I especially thank you for these wonderful caring friends on these boards...they are "God Sent"...They help out quite a bit when you are busy Grin Thank you. AMEN.

ANGELA....Huh?....XOXOXO
