Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. The surgery went quite well today and I am relatively pain free. (OK my belly feels like in it did a stand-in for the side of beef in the first rocky, but that is to be expected.) All in all, feeling very good and looking to get this completely behind me. Thanks again, KB friends!
Intinst!! What a surprise to see you here tonight! I'm happy to hear that all went well. Take care of yourself, and know that you are in my prayers!

Intinst, glad to hear you are on the mend.
Andra, praying for you and your mom.
Sean, hope you are feeling better.
Deb, sjc, praying for you and your health and wisdom for your doctors.
Kathy, Geoff, osnova, Cindy, Kathy, Linda, Betsy, Jeff, Margaret, Martin... and all the res you are all in my thoughts and prayers daily. I pray you all have a blessed 2012.
My moms mri results show 2old stress fractures in her back, but these are not what is causing her pain. She has arthritis in her lower back and hips. She will be scheduled for an epidural steroid injection in the next few weeks to see if this will offer any relief. Thanks for all the prayers, they have been felt. Now if I can just stay well myself, it will be easier to take care of my mom! Hope you all have a restful and blessed weekend.
Angela

I'm praying for your Mom Angela.
My MIL is not doing well. She fell and sliced her leg. She also has pneumonia and blood clots in her legs. She is 95 but still active and very sharp for her age. She has instructed my Husband and his brothers not to put her on any type of machine. She is ready to go and very much at peace with it. It is harder for all of us to let her go. Please pray for her and our family.

Angela, you, your mother-in-law, and the rest of your family are in my prayers. It's so difficult to watch a loved one slip away, even when he or she is ready to go. I've been there, done that, several times, and the prayers of friends and family made the process a bit easier.

Kathy, I just said a prayer for your MIL. On a practical note, just make sure she's made the doctors aware of her wishes too, if she hasn't done so already. I hope it doesn't sound too blunt of me to say that, but I know from experience it's just better if the person has made these things clear with the staff ahead of time.

My husband's brother is an attorney and all her documents are on file with her Dr and the hospital. My parents both had their living will on file. It really helps knowing you are not making the decision on what you think are their wishes. it is hard to let go but I know they were at peace with God.

I would appreciate it if you would keep my half-brother and his family in your prayers. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in May, and was told a couple of weeks ago that his tumors are growing and nothing more can be done for him. He is now having hospice care occasionally, and is having some difficulty getting around.
Thanks. As always, you all continue to be in my prayers.

It seems as if I have spent more of my time on here lately asking for prayer rather than being supportive of others. That said, I have yet another prayer request. I just learned that one of our senior boys at my school was killed last night in a train/auto accident. The details are sketchy as to how it happened, but that's not important at this time. Please keep his family in your prayers. This was a fine young man who moved into our tiny district just before his sixth grade year. He and his mother moved to the town from Brazil. At the time, he spoke no English at all, and things were pretty difficult for him. He gave school, the community, and his family his all, and was one of the nicest young men I've ever known. Thank you all!

Thank you, Deb. I still can't believe it. Our school is very small, with probably fewer than 10 kids in the graduating class, so this is like losing a family member. The circumstances surrounding the tragedy aren't clear yet, but it sounds as if it may not have been an accident. Life can be so very difficult for teen-agers. This is such a sad event.

Lifting your entire community up in prayer.
Thank you. I know that this week will be very difficult at school. His funeral will be held in the school gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon, and there will be grief counselors available as long as needed. It's hard enough as an adult to understand this sort of thing, but I'm sure it will be extremely difficult for the students of all ages. Thank you again, everyone.

Thank you, Kathy. We had a staff meeting at 7:30 this morning, and it was pretty tough. The kids are, for the most part, very emotional, and the teachers are trying to keep it together. We have a lot of counselors and several ministers here today, as does the neighboring school (also quite small) which has a combined athletic program with us. The student who passed away was a tremendous athlete, and everyone in the communities around here knew him or knew of him. It's a very sad time.

Cindy: Oh MY have you had your share. I will pray for the teens; they are so impressionable. Prayers and much love. Things like this are always so difficult; especially at that age. We are all here for you and your community in prayer. Angela: I am glad to hear that the injection has offered some relief. Much love. Stay strong. You are a very special person around here; make sure that you take a minute for yourself. Love to Mom. Deb: How's things?? INTIST: LOON: Checking in. Love you both. Geoff: ME: One more MRI to go.

I just to give everyone an update on my MIL. She was released from the hospital yesterday and my husband went to New Orleans to stay with her. She has astounded the doctors once again. At 95 she is amazing. She is very frail and we don't know if she will be able to gain her strength back but we are hoping. My husband's family all live close except for us. Luckily my husband can work anywhere and is happy to have something to do to help. Thank you everyone for all your prayers. I know that they helped.
I'm praying for all of my friends here on Kindleboards. Kathy

Intinst had his post-op visit on Wednesday. He has been cleared to go back to work next Monday - light duty only. His co-workers are willing to do all the lifting and toting for him. I may have to weigh his lunch box, tho, to be sure it combined with his man-bag don't weigh over the 10 lb. limit.
