Kathy, that's wonderful that you MIL got to go home, and it's great that you husband can be with her for awhile. I'm sure it's really difficult to be a long distance from someone who's having problems. (Seems as if I'm always nearby when someone is sick and/or dying.)

sjc, good luck (and lots of prayers) with your final MRI. Keep us posted.

Deb, how's it going?

Thank you, Angela, and my fellow OYB members, for your prayers. We made it through our beloved student's visitation and his funeral service at school, so now we'll try to begin to get back to normal, although that seems like a formidable task right now. It's been a really difficult week, and I don't know how we'd have made it without innumerable prayers and the strong faith that so many of us have.

I realized that I will probably remove January 18th from future calendars, as it's the date of my mother's funeral (24 years ago), and our student and my uncle both had their funeral services at 2 p.m. last Wednesday. I think I'll opt for running the 17th twice, kind of like "Groundhog Day," the movie.

Now, if I can get my brother to hang on for a couple more months, that would be great. I'm supposed to try to reduce stress and get more sleep now that I'm diabetic. I think I could use some prayer to help me meet those goals. It's been a pretty difficult 5 weeks, with all that's gone on, and I'm trying so very hard to lose weight (which I'm doing), exercise (check), and de-stress and get quality sleep (not checked yet).

Have a blessed weekend, my friends.

Thinking of you Cindy. Keeping you in my prayers.

MIL took a turn for the worse again. She is unable to keep any food or liquids down. She wants to back to the hospital which isn't a goo sign. Luckily her Dr is one of my BIL's best friends and came to her house last night and gave her a prescription for nausea, but isn't helping yet. If doesn't get better today they will readmit her to the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers. Her name is Dot and she is a feisty 95.

Well this has been a month of opportunities for me.
I have a male co-worker who lost his older brother 4 months ago and his father last month.
Another male co-worker lost his Mother-In-Law the week before last.
A female co-worker lost her Father-In-Law last week.
and today I get this email from the wife of a very dear brother-in-Christ:
Xxxx is now in the last stage of Alzheimer's Disease and is at home.  He has not been interested in drinking or eating for several weeks.  Please pray for God's will to be done.

I ask you, my virtual family, to pray for these.
An update:
My sister, Ellie, has just completed the replacement of her left knee.  She had her right knee replaced last year.  The first surgery was difficult because they used a pain-killer that she was allergic to.  Made her very sick.  This time all was better.  She is in physical therapy now.  My sister does not handle pain well.

I am in prayer for all of you and your concerns.
Kathy, I pray for your MIL, Dot.  I love feisty 95 yearolds.  So does God.
SJC - asking for a clean MRI and the opportunity to move forward.
Cindy - I understand that this month has been hard - but you are strong and God works through you.
Angela - you are such a wonderful prayer warrior.
Deb - praying for cessation of pain.
LoonLover and Intinst - God loves a happy couple.  And so glad II is on the mend and back to some work.
Has anyone heard from Martin?
I do care very much for all in this Christian family.
For that matter, if you have come here seeking understanding, it does not matter what your faith, I am in prayer for you.

Just sayn.....

Mr. Thomas...  Cry a LOT of sadness... I am praying for your co-workers/friends...

My Mum had Alzheimer's and that was the hardest things I have ever endured. My dad was sick for years for before he passed (most of my high school years) and I got to tell him so many things that I was afraid I would never get to say... my sister survived lung cancer but struggled with it and bone cancer from the time I was young... about 5-16 or 17... and I thought I could lose her anytime... but she DID survive and I thank God daily for her.
Mum (mommy to me since I was 4) had Alzheimer's and I am not sure I actually got to tell her everything I wanted to as she rarely knew who I was... Prayers for peace for the family... Cry

Just want you all to know I still get to come on a few times a month and do get to read and pray for you all... just not posting much these days... Love you all! Prayers for strength and for any of you who know someone dealing with cancer I have a high school friend who makes REALLY soft hats for those who have lost their hair... They are very cute and she does it out of love... I am not sure if she takes donations on the website but she does NOT charge for the hats but makes them out of the goodness of her heart and usually fills request within about a month or so... Here is her website... Please check out her site http://www.fatthumb.com/

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You today for loving us and for answered prayers and for Your Son. Lord, I ask you today to watch over us and hold us close. You know our needs and desires. You know our sufferings and heartaches. I ask for a special blessing on my firends today. I love you Lord. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Psalm 23:4

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Have a wonderful day in the Lord! Love you all.

My friend Merritt Frederickson passed on January 22nd.
His Alzheimer's had progressed to where his body "forgot" how to stay alive.
He is with his Maker now.  And waits for his loved ones to join him.
He was a kind man who was always willing to help anyone, a terrific family man, a good friend and a great example to all.
He will be missed.

Please pray for his family - they do not need peace because they already have that - they know where he has gone and are happy for him.  Because he was so good, they have an incredible store of love to fill the void created by his leaving.  But one still needs God's grace.

And I am poorer for his passing.

Geoff, somehow I missed your previous message, in which you told us about the losses that your co-workers had suffered. I wish I'd seen it because I would have included them in my prayers. I'm happy to hear that your sister's knee replacement went much better this time. I remember when you told us about her complications last year. Ellie is in my prayers.

You, as well as your friend's family and friends are in my prayers, Geoff. Even though we know that our friends and loved ones are in a better place, it's difficult to lose them.
It's good that you have wonderful memories of him.

Meredith, your friend who makes hats for cancer patients who have lost their hair sounds like a wonderful person. She is certainly doing God's work.

Angela, thank you for the prayers and scripture that you post for us. They are very uplifting, and always give my day a boost.

I have been bonding with my brother (the one who is 15 years older than I and is having hospice care for his stage 4 lung cancer). Of course, I was saddened to hear that he was going to have to fight cancer, but it makes me more sad now that he and I have gotten a bit closer.  I took him a homemade gooseberry pie on Wednesday, and am hoping that he'll find that it hits the spot. I know that his appetite is pretty poor, but when I asked him if he'd like me to bake a pie for him, he lit up like a Christmas tree, and said that he'd love one. So far, he is still able to sit in his chair, walk outside with help, watch tv, etc, but, of course, needs his oxygen tank closeby. His legs are getting weaker, and I know how devastated he will be when he can no longer walk. (I remember when that happened to my sister, and she went downhill pretty quickly after that.) Please pray for my brother and his family.

May God continue to bless you all. Have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Things have been really busy for me.  I have been reading all of the prayer request posts on my phone.
My pain has abated to some degree.  I am scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy in mid-February.
We have a trial set for the next day and I'm hoping the trial reschedules because the last time I had these
tests it took me at least another day to get back to some sort of "normal".  LOL.

Thoughts and prayers with everyone.

Praying for you all.... Angela

I found this using 'Words of Jesus' for Android phones!

"Don't Worry":

25 'Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,
29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you  (Matthew 6 : 25-33 - ESV)

Everyone:  I have missed so much on this thread in the short time that I have been busy.

Geoff:  You are always there for us and without ever asking for anything in return.  I was so saddened by Merritt's passing; Alzheimer's is so difficult on the family:  It is a robber of ones dignity.  I had a friend who lost his Mom to it quite young; and when they were going through her possessions afterwards; they found a note to herself in her purse reminding herself of her name address and family members names.  He said he never cried so hard. Prayers to the family and your other coworkers families as well.  Wish Ellie the best...be sure that she does her PT...makes all the difference.

Loon/Intinst:  Great news.  Intinst...LIGHT DUTY...get that??

Meredith:  We know you pop in and it's fine that you don't post as often:  We care for you deeply.  Yes, cancer is something that has touched everyone.  I don't know once single person who hasn't had someone in their life affected by the horrible culprit.  My boyfriend's Dad was just diagnosed this week w lung cancer.  I feel badly; because he was a deadbeat Dad since my guy was eight and yet, the news had us in tears.  Nobody deserves cancer.  I told Joe that deep down you love your Dad whether you know it or not; and if you tell him so; it will free you.  Love heals.  He did just that and sobbed...he said the weight was lifted.  It was touching.  Prayers to anyone who has cancer; continued prayers for a cure.

Cindy:  Ask, and you shall receive.  I am thrilled that this has brought the two of you closer; despite the circumstances. It is difficult.  The worst is watching the weight loss with no appetite.  My uncle couldn't eat even his favorite things.  Prayers to YOU, your brother and his family.  You are a good sister; and a wonderful friend to us here.

Angela:  We just humbly love and appreciate you.  God Bless you and yours.  I hope your memory is coming along nicely.  I too, enjoy your passages.  You are an asset and we have come to count on you.  Sending loving thoughts your way.

Kathy:  I think and pray for you and your family daily.  I am sitting on the couch next to my daughter (23) who slept over last night.  I have to bite my tongue quite a bit w/ the Daddy this and Daddy that...but it gets a little bit better each day; trust me.  Prayers and Love.  Hugs to MIL; feisty...

Deb:  Praying for a HAPPY HEALTHY FEBRUARY...much luck and many prayers.  You've had your share...glad the pain has toned down some.   Love you girl.

UPDATE:  ME:  Breasts all set; multiple ultrasounds at two different places watching a few areas; bills rolling in.  MRI showed nothing; BUT can feel the lump near the sternum; it swells and shrinks on and off.  Followup next week as to why nothing shows up; yet, can feel something.
NEW NEWS: My job of 8 years:  business is so slow; my boss told me he only needs me one day per week; great.  Houses don't support themselves.  I will be updating and revamping my dusty resume.  PLUS...I got into a car accident this week (no injuries thank God); I can't afford collision on my policy; liability only...so lucky me:  Paying out of pocket with my one day a week job...lol.  Also, my divorce lawyer sent me a bill for $1878, two years after the fact; because the $12,500 that he was paid for an UNCONTESTED divorce wasn't enough.  Maybe I should ask him if he's hiring. Grin  I have no clue where to start with this job thing; as we have the 2ND highest unemployment rate in the country.  At 48...(49 next month) who's hiring me?  The past couple of years surely have been a test for me...I shall survive.

Love and Prayers to all...sjc

SJC, you certainly have found your faith tested over the last couple of years, but you'll get through all of this. I'm really sorry to hear about everything that's been happening to you, but you are in my prayers daily. I hope the prayers of all of us here give you some comfort. Things will work out, although sometimes it seems as if the pace is much too slow. (I like the idea of asking your divorce lawyer if he's hiring! Wink  )

Continued prayers for you, deb, as you try to find the cause of your pain.

Geoff, you're still in my prayers as you deal with the loss of Merritt.

Intinst, how's that light duty working out for you? LL, I'm sure you've had your hands full keeping him from overdoing it. Prayers for both of you.

Kathy, Angela, and Meredith, you all continue to be in my prayers, as do the other OYB friends who have unspoken needs.  God bless you all.

Hello all, catching up with the questions. Doing my best with the light duty thing. LL is doing much around the house that is usually my responsibility, and that is hard for me, but I understand the necessity. When I went back to work the first day, I told all my fellow workers that if they saw me forget myself and try to do something I shouldn't to slap me. No one has taken me up on that yet, but all have been very helpful when needed. Two more weeks and back to full duty at work and at home, I'll be ready.

You're right, sjc. I didn't mean to understate your situation, and I'm sure you know that. With all of our prayers, as well as those of other friends of yours, you'll get through this. Hang in there.

Good call, Geoff. Thanks for the reminder. I think of the day that she left us, and remember that date, but didn't realize when her birthday was. She will be missed for a long time.

I'm new to the boards and delighted to find this thread! I've gone back through and looked at and prayed for some of the needs. Would you please remember my friend, Liz, in prayer? We just found out she has cancer and will be having surgery next week. I really appreciate it.

Let me add my welcome to the KB, as well, Donna. I hope you'll enjoy it here as much as many of us do.  I have found many kindred spirits here. This board, in particular, is a true blessing.  I've put your friend, Liz, on my prayer list, Donna, and I'm sure many others will. Keep us posted on her surgery and her progress. There are many of us here who have been immensely affected by friends and loved ones, as well as some personally, with cancer. Please pass on our best wishes for successful surgery and a complete recovery to Liz.
