Since I'm fairly new to the boards I'm not sure how my "posts" look. I've changed a few things so I'm trying to see what I look like now. Thanks for being patient!

How do I insert an image in my posts? I know I can click on the icon and see the bracketed code for the image, but beyond that I don't see where or how I can upload one.

I don't think you can upload images here. The image in my signature are actually stored on my website, and I just use the img tag to point to the URL.

First you have to save your image to a photo sharing site such as Photobucket. Once you have it saved there, you copy the "Direct Link" info and paste it in between the brackets. Then you'll need to do a Preview to see if it worked, because it still won't show the actual picture in the box where you are typing.

I really hope this is the right place for this question...if not, so sorry!!! So, the book link in my sig line is so much smaller than everyone elses, but when I do the bigger link it took up the entire thread *yeah, people must have loved me for that 20 mins* Is there a way to make it that standard size everyone elses seems to be? THANKS SO MUCH

in the link.. at the beginning, it will say something like [img height=75... or 100..
if you change it to 125 that's the normal size most indies use.

THANKS SO MUCH Caitie-- In Link-Maker, there are three options--the first one, near the top, that says "To Make An Image Link," one to make a large image, about 500 pixels high, and one for a tiny image, about 75 pixels high. It looks like you used the "tiny" option in Link-Maker. This one automatically picks a very tiny image from the Amazon database. (Changing the size on this one to enlarge it doesn't work well.) You want to use the first one, near the top, that says "To Make an Image Link." This will automatically pick a larger image from Amazon and set the size to be 125 pixels high, the proper size for our signature files. Create the link using Link-Maker, then replace all the code you currently have in your signature with the new code. Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions! Betsy

My initial reaction is, Um, no. But if I say that I'll (for some unexplained reason) need a table next week

JChris- I've fixed your signature, which was indeed too big, LOL! When you have more than one book cover in a signature, you need to make sure your cursor is next to and on the same line as the /url] at the end of the prior book cover before pasting the new cover. If the cursor is on the next line, you've probably put in a return. Note that sometimes, the length of the cover code will force the cursor onto the next line after you've pasted, but as long as the cursor is on the same line when yo hit paste, you should be good! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. (And I'll probably move your post away from the KB Song thread....) Betsy

Looks good so far, Karin! Welcome to KindleBoards. One thing, to keep signature heights reasonable for our members, we ask that there be no more than two lines of text total above or below the 125 pixel high cover images, so you can move the text next to your images using a table format. Here's a brief tutorial. There is a longer tutorial on signatures, including images, at: http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,46766.0.htmlHere's what you are aiming for, of course with actual cover urls where I have Cover Link 1 and Cover Link 2. This example would have two cover images side by side, and three text comments stacked to the right of the covers. [table][tr][td]Cover Link 1 Cover Link 2[/td] [td] Text comment 1 Text Comment 2 Text Comment 3[/td][/tr][/table]To get the text next to the cover images, you have to create a table. You put the start table tag [table] at the beginning of the table, and the end table tag [/table] at the very end. You can see those in blue in the code above. Next you'll see the "table row" tags [tr] and [/tr]. You don't really need to put these in, the system software will put them in for you--your whole signature will generally be in one row. Note that anything after the "end table" tag [/table] will appear below the table. Here's the most important part--the table cells or columns. Each cell or column has to begin with [td] and end with [/td] You can see above, each cover link URL is between a set of the red td tags. You can put several covers in the same table cell (or column) if you want, but the key thing is to have them all on the same line. Do this by making sure the cursor is on the same line as the [/url] at the end of the prior cover link before pasting the new cover. Second put all the text in their own cell, starting with a [td] and ending with [/td]You can give it a try, unless it makes your head hurt too much. I'm glad to help if you need it! (Note that I've added a lot of code in the above example to get the colors in.) Betsy KB Moderator

Rebecca--
Easy, peasy! No need to do a table. Just go back to the signature box, and between the "end url" tag [/url] at the end of the first cover and the "begin url" tag [url] at the start of the next cover, hit the spacebar. (Not the "enter" or "return" key, which is what you were doing before!)
Let me know if you have any problems!
