I have always thought the Kindle resembles a primitive version of the PAD featured in the newer versions of Star Trek like ST:The Next Generation.



I could see devices similar to this working off wireless networks in hospitals giving medical personnel up to date information on patients in their facility. 

Their uses would only be limited by our imagination and cash flow.  Smiley

Our local hospital already uses a portable computer like device for entering in patient info.
