The KB TwitGroup is still Harvey's - I got his blessing and gave him passwords before I let you guys know, and Luv4mybrats helped me test it. So there's a lot of thanks to go around and the members aren't the least of the ones to thank, cuz without all of you participating it wouldn't work!

Thanks Dwayne.  That makes sense.  Smiley

Lol - I hope so - I thought maybe I'd muddled it up.

I try to walk through the steps, but it does seem a little confusing at times.

I just hope everyone is having fun. It wasn't hard at all to set-up.

Right now I'm just twittering (tweeting?? lol) from my computer when I'm home.  If you have unlimited text messaging, your cell phone is a cool way to go....especially if you're away from home a lot.  I think it's a great way to be in touch with people.

I just twitter from my computer, but once I get my Palm Pre (when it's released) I will do more from my phone.

I use tweetie from atebits.com

It's an awesome program available for mac or iphone.

I recently got a HTC Fuze, but I have to learn this twitter thing better before I open up the text messaging monster.

Quickie Guide to Twitter:

twitter - the twittering service/website.  Like a walkie-talkie or passing notes at school but on the internet .  Short little messages.

tweet - individual twitter message ("I just sent a tweet to @kindleboards")

@username - directs a tweet to the username's twitter account, a "reply" (only the account holder will be able to read it, it won't show up on their twitter page)

DM @username - a Direct Message tweet to the username's twitter account.  Send tweets to @kindleboards this way or no one will see it.

Follow - to get tweets (updates) from a person, go to their twitter address and click on the "Follow" button.  You will then get their tweets and tweets that are in reply to you to them, but you will not get tweets that are in reply from them to other people.  Nutshell:  you will get 'general' tweets and personal replies only.  Go to their twitter address to see everything they've written but you won't see what other people wrote so it's like getting half of the conversation.  (This is why you have to send tweets to @kindleboards as a DM.)

RT @username - retweeting (forwarding).  If @joeschmoe tweeted something interesting you can forward it to others and @joeschmoe gets the credit.  I retweeted something yesterday to @kindleboards by typing:  DM @kindleboards my tweet message RT @username their tweet message

140 character limit - messages can only be 140 chars long, remember that retweeting (RT) will use up chars.

You can send tweets via:

your computer at twitter.com
your cell phone (text msg) at 40404 (US text #, must set up phone first at twitter.com)
your iPhone/iTouch/etc. at m.twitter.com

and remember, you don't *have* to send tweets at all!  If you have a favorite subject, tv show, celebrity, whatever, just "Follow" their tweets to keep updated on what they're doing.

hope that helps,
@hazel_dazel

P.S.  I can't believe hazeldazel was already taken!  OMGWTFBBQ!

I tweet via iPhone using Twitterlator Pro.  On my 'puter, I use TwitterFox usually but also use Twitter via the web.

hazeldazel thank you so much for doing that. Those are very clear instructions. I appreciate your effort as we are all still learning this new twitter lingo.
