The Black Lake: Tales from the Darkside

Tales of darkness from the classic Pan and Fontana Books of Horror and Ghost Stories to the present day.

Three friends on a fishing trip in the MidWest encounter a mysterious dark-watered lake. They hope to catch something to eat ... but who's eating who this evening?

John Tarrell is driving his little sportscar across the Rockies, when a pair of huge round headlamps materialize behind him. He'd thought that he was on his own out here ... and now, he wishes that he was.

A shy schoolteacher moves to outer London ... and learns the awful truth about a nearby subway line.

A Catholic priest arrives in Tanzania to find a nest of deadly driver ants - 'siafu' - near the mission he has been assigned to. But he learns after a while that there are things far deadlier than insects.

Three American tourists attend a bullfight at a little town in southern Spain ... but why is it being held at midnight?

A writer finds himself living in a bad, decrepit housing project. It seems that the worst threat is the local gang ... but there are other dangers he can't even start to dream of.

A pregnant couple get trapped in a blizzard in winter-bound Ontario ... except the snow wants to do more than merely freeze them.

A group of young friends attend a bizarre, disturbing show ... and then find themselves part of it.

A man who's newly homeless spends his first night on the street ... and meets a group of others like him who have found a horrifying new way to survive.

A traveling salesman goes to see a soccer match in a strange, derelict town ... and finds it's more than just a game.

A terminally ill man looks for a strange cure ... and gets considerably more than he had bargained for.

A mangy-looking circus visits a small town ... and brings a terrifying form of entertainment with it.

Welcome to KindleBoards, Tony, and congratulations on your book!  Smiley

Please note that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum.  Authors are always welcome to post anywhere but, as you browse the 'boards, please keep in mind that self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed here in the Book Bazaar.

A brief recap of our rules follows: (Note that this doesn't mean you've done anything wrong; we just want you to have a ready reference. Smiley )

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information.  You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days.  Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link.  Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows.  This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles!  Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post.  For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:
Authors: KindleBoards Tips & FAQ.

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum.  Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

Thanks for being part of KindleBoards!  Feel free to send us a PM if you have any questions.

That terrific writer of suspense, Ed Gorman, has posted glowing reviews of 2 of my short story collections – one of them available on Kindle -- on his blog, as well as publishing an interview with me. Click here:
