I'd love to see some talk about Christian Fictional novels.
This past week I finished Jewel of Persia by Roseanna White, it's on Kindle and is with an Inspy publisher.
I really enjoyed it. Found it to be what they're calling edgy Christian fiction, but only slightly. It's because the book is set just prior to the reign of Queen Esther and it deals with the (fictional) favorite concubine of King Xerxes. The historical detail was fascinating. It sort of reminded me at times of the movie 300 or Troy. And the author somehow managed to create a monogamous feeling to the relationship between the king and the main character, Kasia.
So, what Christian novel are you reading?

I just got "Love Comes Softly" but I haven't started reading it yet. I saw the movie series last year on Hallmark channel (I think) and really enjoyed the movies so I thought I'd give the first book in the series a try.

Are you talking about the "Love Comes Softly" series by Janette Oak? If so, you're either making me feel very young or very, very old.  I'll bet I've read that series four or five times over my life. I've just checked Amazon and the series is being sold in four book sets for around $10 each. I think it's time to spend a little and re-live my younger days. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Right now I'm reading Here Burns my Candle by Liz Curtis Higgs. I've enjoyed some of her other historicals, which take place in Scotland, and all focus on family relationships. She's great at using multiple points of view and getting me to empathize with characters I really didn't care for by switching to their POV.

I am enjoying the writing style of Tosca Lee. I'm currently reading Demon: a memoir. It is interesting so far.

This is a great thread. Thank you for starting it. I too have read the "Love" series many times. One of my favorite go to series. I am not reading a Christian Fiction this week, but I did get one for free recently that I'm very tickled about. I got this from the library for my Sony and when I found it on Amazon I picked it up for all of the other Kindle users on my account.  Sadly it's not free any longer. It's 8.99, but I highly recommend it even at that price. deb |

Just about finished with Hero Second Class by Mitchell Bonds. If you love fantasy you'd this one. Very funny satire with all the things you'd want in a fantasy novel.

I really enjoyed Echoes of the Titanic by Mindy Starns Clark. She did a wonderful job alternating between present day and 1912! The murder mystery and the historic identity mystery were both engaging. I haven't read any of her other books yet, but they're on the list.  |

Just finished W.G. Griffith's Malchus which is a historical novel based on the slave who had his ear cut off by Peter. It's his story of the events and times of the crucifixion. It was very good - much better then expected.  Now I've started Robert Liparulo's The 13th Tribe. So far I'm hooked.  |
