I have finally taken the plunge and self published my YA sci-fi adventure novel Rex Rising (76 K words) on kindle. I admit I have wanted to try this in quite some time. I really like the idea of having control over every step of the production. I also made my own cover, which was great. Blurb: In a world where parasites create new human races, Elei leads a peaceful life as an aircar driver — until a mysterious attack on his boss sends him fleeing with a bullet in his side. Pursued for a secret he does not possess and with the fleet at his heels, he has but one thought: to stay alive. His pursuers aren’t inclined to sit down and talk, although that’s not the end of Elei’s troubles. The two powerful parasites inhabiting his body, at a balance until now, choose this moment to bring him down, leaving Elei with no choice but to trust in people he hardly knows in a mad race against time. It won’t be long before he realizes he must find out this deadly secret – a secret that might change the fate of his world and everything he has ever known – or die trying. I am now writing the sequel which I hope to finish by the end of the year. On my blog you can read more about it: http://chrystallathoma.wordpress.com/rex-rising/Here is the trailer: I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Btw, a few things about me: My name is Chrystalla and I am a Fantasy and Science Fiction author. I am Greek Cypriot and I like to write about fantastical creatures, crazy adventures, and family bonds. I live in Cyprus with my husband and my vast herds of books. My short stories can be found in Alienskin magazine, Lorelei Signal, the Shine Journal, Encounters Magazine, and Bards and Sages ezine i.a. I have published Dioscuri, a YA Urban Fantasy novella, with MuseItUp Publishing (planning two more novellas set in that world), and I just released my YA science fiction novel Rex Rising on Kindle and Smashwords (and am now writing the sequel and prequel).

Welcome to KindleBoards, Chrystalla, and congratulations on your book! Please note that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum. Authors are always welcome to post anywhere but, as you browse the 'boards, please keep in mind that self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed here in the Book Bazaar. A brief recap of our rules follows: (Note that this doesn't mean you've done anything wrong; we just want you to have a ready reference, so post this note in every thread. ) -- Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information. You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice). --We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days. Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then. --We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead. --Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post. For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread: Authors: KindleBoards Tips & FAQ. All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum. Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules. Thanks for being part of KindleBoards! Feel free to send us a PM if you have any questions. Congratulations, Chrystalla!
If REX RISING is every bit as well-written and imaginative as "The Angel Genome," then this is going to be a great read! And it looks like it's already off to a good start. Off to go check it out now...
Thank you dear Phoenix! Coming from you, these words make me very happy.

I just had to share this: two readers so far have told me that they stayed up until 2 in the morning to finish Rex Rising - and I am in the clouds. Isn't this what we are all writing for? *is very pleased*

Just wanted to say that Rex Rising is on sale for the month of October at 99c. Also, Hera, on the signature below, a novelette set in the world of Rex Rising, is available now at 99c, and for free on Smashwrods.

Rex Rising will be offered at 99c for only a few days longer. So grab a copy before the price goes up again.
