Hi everyone, I’m a young Chinese translator and a brand new member of this forum. I've recently finished translating the first novel in an excellent series of Chinese thrillers, and I think a lot of you would really enjoy it. The book is called Dark Prospects: Search for the Buried Bomber (Dark Prospects is the name of the series) and it’s a kind of mystery/adventure/horror hybrid that takes place in China's northern borderlands during the Cultural Revolution.

The story begins when a group of elite geological prospectors (sort of a combination geologist/spelunker/adventurer) are given an assignment of the utmost importance and confidentiality. Without any explanation they are transported to an abandoned Japanese military base hidden in the wild northern reaches of Inner Mongolia. There, on direct orders from the highest levels of the military, they are shown a piece of top-secret archival footage—a "Zero Film." The film contains visual evidence (based on geological imaging work conducted from the surface) that concealed in a cavern 3,600 feet below the primeval Inner Mongolian forest is a giant Japanese bomber, seemingly left there since World War II. How did it get there? What had the Japanese been planning? And what else might be hidden down there as well? Soon after, the prospectors set out for this mysterious cavern, but what they find there exceeds anything they could have imagined. Then things start going very wrong.

And this is only the beginning.

Dark Prospects: Search for the Buried Bomber (Damo Canglang: Juedi Kantan in Chinese) was a runaway bestseller in China, and among Chinese mystery fans its author is as famous as JK Rowling. The series was one of the most enjoyable I’ve read in years, and translating it has been a lot of fun. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat, the characters are all varied and interesting, and the setting is very well done. But of course the best way for you to tell whether this is a great book is to read it yourself.

The book is now available for download, just search the title on your Kindle or go here:

There is also a free serialization of the novel at this website: http://www.hotinchina.net/?p=280.
Each week a new chapter will be added.

Additionally, the publisher is running an ongoing promotional campaign in which anyone who mentions the book on Facebook or Twitter will be entered in a drawing to win free Kindles, iPads and even a trip to Inner Mongolia. And you don’t even have to read the book to participate! http://www.hotinchina.net/?p=232.

All right, long post but I think you’ll find it was worth it. Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did, and if you have any questions just ask.

G.J.A.

Welcome to KindleBoards and congratulations on your book!  Smiley

Please note that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum.  Authors are always welcome to post anywhere but, as you browse the 'boards, please keep in mind that self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed here in the Book Bazaar.

A brief recap of our rules follows: (Note that this doesn't mean you've done anything wrong; we just want you to have a ready reference, so post this note in every thread. Smiley )

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information.  You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days.  Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link.  Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows.  This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles!  Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post.  For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:
