Third Prince is now in the top 20 of Amazon Kindle books Fantasy "Magic & Wizards" category and top 25 in the general fiction "War" category! Third Prince is the story of a young man who was raised as an orphan in a monastery never knowing his royal lineage. When his family is murdered, he is thrust into a world that isn't as black and white as he has always believed. If he is to take his rightful place on his father's throne he must face the dangers of political ambition and a kingdom gripped by the realities of war.

Welcome to KindleBoards, Toby, and congratulations on your book! Please note that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum. Authors are always welcome to post anywhere but, as you browse the 'boards, please keep in mind that self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed here in the Book Bazaar. A brief recap of our rules follows: (Note that this doesn't mean you've done anything wrong; we just want you to have a ready reference, so post this note in every thread. ) -- Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information. You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice). --We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days. Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then. --We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead. --Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post. This was my first novel. The idea was about a young man thrust into a role of leadership that he didn't really want. That was sort of my life story at the time. I was trying to be something I thought I should be, but in reality I'm just a storyteller. I'm so glad that I'm living the life I was made for now, even if I can't write whatever I want whenever I want to - YET! Give it a read, I'll bet you'll enjoy it.

People fall in love with this book. I've had numerous requests for the next book in the series. I think people love Kain, the main character because he represents how so many people feel about life. We're constantly thrust into situations where leadership and responsibility land squarely on our shoulders. I think we relate to his struggles and aspire to his courage. If you haven't read it yet, check it out. You'll be glad you did.

I'm working on the next book in the Third Prince series. The concept has been floating around in my head for a long time. I'm really looking forward to getting started on it.

In Third Prince, Elkain struggles with a world that isn't as black and white as he always thought. How many of you have grown up in a sheltered home only to find the world is not as simple as you believed?

Over 60 copies sold on Amazon just this month. If you haven't picked up your copy, get on board now while it is still on sale.

The decision has been made to keep Third Prince at the $0.99 sale price. Sales are steadily climbing and it has broken into the top 50 of both the General Fiction "War" & Fantasy "Magic & Wizards" categories.

Toby, it seems like you have a lot of sales for your novel, Third Prince. Do you have any links to blogs of review sites that have done a write-up of the book? I was surprised to see that it only had one review on Amazon.

Hi Sean, thanks for the question. No, I don't have any other reviews I think most of my Third Prince sales initially came from people who bought my latest book, Wizard Rising. Now that it is in the top 20 of the "Magic and Wizards" category Third Prince will probably get more sales on it's own. Have reviews helped your book sales?

I believe the secret of sales on Amazon is exposure and it all starts with a great cover design. I'll be looking to change the cover design on Third Prince and Royal Destiny before too much longer.

Wow! Congratulations! I hope you continue to have a lot of success with this series! Sounds like epic fantasy (am I correct about this?). Which leads me to wonder . . . who would you put yourself by thematically -- Terry Goodkind? Robert Jordan? Brandon Sanderson? George R. R. Martin? Just curious, because there's such wide variance within the field.

Hi Emily, thanks for the comment. I'm not sure that I would necessarily relate to any of those writers, perhaps Jordan's early work. I grew up reading Conan and Tarzan books, so I'm probably a little old fashion. I'm certainly not as broad (or sexually graphic) as Martin. My stories are character driven and action oriented. I'm also a big fan of C.S. Lewis and of course Tolkien. I would probably say I'm a bit like David Gemmell's early work too.

I'm having Third Prince and Royal Destiny professionally edited. They were my first books and never got the professional treatment. I'm excited to see how people respond to the new editions.
