Love -- the constant that makes or breaks a person; the constant that takes no variables into consideration.

Follow a young man who has just graduated college without a career path or any goals. He's haunted by a love that never happened and never will. Soon his ghosts will devour him, leaving A Meticulous Absence.

Here are 16,000 words of a different kind of horror -- a horror that is naked and human. A horror that is love and life.

Link's in my sig below.

Welcome to KindleBoards, Erik, and congratulations on your book!  Smiley

Please note that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum.  Authors are always welcome to post anywhere but, as you browse the 'boards, please keep in mind that self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed here in the Book Bazaar.

A brief recap of our rules follows: (Note that this doesn't mean you've done anything wrong; we just want you to have a ready reference, so post this note in every thread. Smiley )

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information.  You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days.  Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link.  Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows.  This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles!  Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post.  For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:
Authors: KindleBoards Tips & FAQ.

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum.  Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

Thanks for being part of KindleBoards!  Feel free to send us a PM if you have any questions.

a sample . . . .

I try to tune every thought and memory that dares to run simultaneously within and against each other down and down. The names have no meanings and faces stand for everything the person stands for. Faces are all I see. I can toss and turn, but no tossing will shake the faces from my head. No tossing can make every piece and part in my head click together in it respected place. I wish I could stop thinking and remembering. I can tune out the parents and I can drown out any other unwanted noise with mute static, but these [expletive] images.

I want to sleep and not dream. Dream and not sleep. A body next to mine. Lauren. Nikki. The girl on the other side of the green river, waving.

Finally.

I’m falling.

A sample . . . .

“I love you,” she says. “But I can’t be with you.”

I understand.

She kisses my cheek and gets out of my car. I think I’m crying.

Flash.

“Don’t call me a bitch,” she says.

“Well, why have you been dissing me lately?”

She looks at me and explains. I listen, not wanting to, and understand, not wanting to. I don’t love her now. I can’t. Heaven has crashed.

Flash.

“Now the Class of 1997,” says an amplified voice from above. The applause is as intense and omnipresent. She stands and walks by me. I think she looks at me and meekly smiles. I think I meekly smile back. She walks away.

Splash.

She stands on the other side of the river that used to be a lake, but grew tired of the limitations nature and man placed upon it. She seems to be a flowing extension of the green grass, swaying with the wind, maybe even causing the breeze to blow gently. She raises her right hand and smiles like she did whenever I used to put my arm around her. She waves to me and I want to cry.
