Yes. Rumor has it that they've made it more tablet friendly with a new layout in preparation for the release of their amazon/kindle tablet. Don't remember where I read that. May have been here on the boards, but it has changed.

Correct, Amazon is in the process of redesigning their web-site and are making it available to some customers.  So the roll-out will be slow.  I still have the old design.

I haven't really noticed any change, but then again, I haven't really looked for changes.

Same here. I got the new one last week on my laptop, but the old one still shows on my iPad.

It's something everyone with a web page has to think about now.

Here you go.  I've been seeing the new Amazon page since early last week.

Sad  I can't see it yet, and as sad as it is i'm kind of frustrated!  LOL.  I'm excited about it.  I've even tried two different web browsers hoping it would let me see the new one but no luck here.  It looks nice though.  Smiley

Thanks for that DreamWeaver! It looks like a pretty subtle makeover, but I'm guessing it will be easier to render on tablets. Smiley

I have had it for about a week or so.  One of the things that I really like is that the search field is bigger.  On the main page, if one just puts the cursor on the search bar and clicks, a menu drops down for the free song of the day, free app of the day and deal of the day.   Smiley

The menu under "Your Amazon" also seems easier to navigate.  One of the menu items is "Your Cloud Drive" which gives one a nicely organized page with folders for documents, music, pictures and video.  There are also separate menu item under "Your Amazon"  for one click (or touch) access to the cloud player, video library, etc.

I really like the new design and it makes me even more eager for the new tablet.

I logged on here to see what people were saying after just getting it for the first time.  I don't like it at all. It's super personalized and truth be told my browsing history is close to irrelevant to me. It's definitely not how I want to see the page presented and it doesn't lead me to what I'm trying to find.  It reminds me of one of my favorite recent books, The Filter Bubble, about everything you miss because of personalized search results.

I wish somebody would post a screen capture of the "old" home page.  Just like when they tear down a building and I can't recall what was there, I can't remember what the home page looked like.

I posted the image of Amazon's new home page earlier. That was viewed using Firefox.

I wish somebody would post a screen capture of the "old" home page.  Just like when they tear down a building and I can't recall what was there, I can't remember what the home page looked like.

I still get Amazon's previous home page when I use Internet Explorer, so here's a screenshot of that:

Personally, I prefer the previous design, but that may be because I'm not used to the style of the new one yet.  The new graphics seem rather "blah" to me and I prefer the older navigation style.

Strangely enough I have both.   Huh    I have had the new format on my desktop for quite a while using the Chrome browser on Vista.  However, my laptop which uses the Chrome browser on Windows 7 still displays the old site.  So I really get to compare going back and forth and definitely prefer the new format.   Smiley

Thanks for posting that Dreamweaver.  It's the menu on the left in the old version that's the big loss for me.  It's not nearly so user friendly to navigate now.

Oddly enough only one of our computers has the new layout on the home page. Our old desktop we don't use near as much as the laptops.
I was kinda waiting on my laptop tot get the new layout so out of curiosity I checked my husbands la[top the other day and it's still on the old layout.

I've had the new webpage for several days and don't like it but I guess I will eventually be forced to get used to it.  I have a laptop and don't need all that white space.  I don't want so much personalization.  I really hate the emphasis on electronics in the directory and the simplifying of the directory.  Maybe I could live with the new homepage if I could click on "departments" and get the complete list without further clicks to finally get to the "department" I want.  Worst of all, during the entire period that I had the new homepage, I also experienced all kinds of problems on the website.  Sometimes I simply could not connect.  Other times, I connected, but could not navigate the links on the site.  And worst of all, I'd put something in my cart, click on my cart and it would show up.  But, when I clicked on proceed to checkout, it would say my cart is empty.  Very frustrating and it happened on both IE and Firefox.  Guess what?  About an hour ago, I connected to AZ and I got the old home page.  Guess what else?  No more webiste issue.  Everything worked like clockwork.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't like it.  I still can't find the discussion boards on the site; the search feature doesn't help, just gives me books about discussion forums or a page with "tags" that just takes me to more books!   Cheesy
I know change is inevitable, but lately changes just don't seem to mean 'better' (at least IMO).
Guess I'm just going to have to get used to it and figure out how to get to the things I'm interested in.

I get the new one on one computer; still get the old one on the other.  Not sure why (they both recognize who I am when I go to Amazon).
