My son is getting his third Kindle. He hasn't had good luck protecting them. (He's in the military and was in Afghanistan when his last one broke.) Now he is back stateside. In your opinion, what case offers the most protection for someone who doesn't baby his Kindle? I want to get him one that offers good protection.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi Guernsey, please thank your son for his service, from me.

I use a cyber acoustics flip-top case that I love. It's protective, easy to get the Kindle in and out, and had silicone corner bumpers. It also has a couple of different easel style settings for setting in on a surface for reading and a hand strap for holding it.

The leather is very nice, soft quality.

Since I doubt he's breaking them while he reads them, perhaps he would be better off getting one of the low profile but rigid cases I've seen, and putting it in the case when he's carrying it, taking it out only to read. They're typically offered as netbook cases.  I'll see if I can find links to a couple.

Betsy, are you thinking of something like the KlearKase 3 or Case Crown hard case?

Does anyone know if the KlearKase works well as an everyday case and not just a beach/pool case?

Has anyone used the Case Crown case?

Thanks for your opinions.

I highly recommend MEdge's Latitude Jacket, especially for a guy.  It is very lightweight, well padded (grey polar fleece), and is made of ballistic nylon (think luggage) fabric so it's extremely durable.  Zips completely around so everything is very secure.

Used to be available at BestBuy.  Now is on sale on the website for $29.99.

Afghanistan? You guys are barking up the wrong tree with book type cases.  What he needs is an Otterbox.  And have him keep it in a sleeve when he's not using it even for that little bit extra.

I'd also recommend the Otterbox case.
