I've tried a couple of small lights that clip on my Kindle. Can't remember what they're called. They're great but the batteries give up after a few hours. Well, the light seems to dim after a couple of hours.
Anybody know of a small light that clips onto the Kindle with a long lasting battery?

I have a light called eBook-Lite. I got it at Target for around $20.00. It uses two AAA batteries. They last me at least a month with quite a bit of use. I have a Sony that does not have eInk and I use the light on the Sony during the day sometimes, as well as every evening. I loved this light so much I picked up a spare a couple of months ago. deb I found a link. http://www.capstoneindustries.com/keychain_products.aspx?CategoryID=24&List=1&Level=a&ProductID=84

Here's a link to The Container Store. Shows a better picture of it clipped to a reader. And it's only 14.99 on their site. deb http://www.containerstore.com/shop?productId=10030963&N=&Ntt=ebook+lite

I bought my Belkin clip-on light back in March and it's still going strong. I got it at Target for under $20, but you can also find it on Amazon. The clip fits well with an Oberon cover, but since I read my Kindle without the cover most of the time now, I just wind a ponytail holder or rubber band on the back of the clip to take up the slack. I got my daughter some other type of clip-on, which died after less than two months and get her the Belkin as a replacement.

Regular alkaline batteries in the Beam N Read LED 3 Hands Free Travel Reading Light last for 120 hours at full brightness. It lasts so much longer because it has more battery power - 4 AA's versus the 1 to 3 AAA's or button batteries found in most other lights. Since it's worn around the neck, it stays lightweight with the AA's. Shining light from the chest it fully lights the whole screen. It works with all Kindles (even the DX) whether naked, skinned, or covered. Gadling.com called it the "best Amazon Kindle reading light". KindleWorld.blogspot.com wrote it is her "new favorite light for the Kindle." I use it every night reading with my K3 - I also work for the company that makes them. Also useful for crafts, knitting, camping, changing a baby's diaper at night (I did a lot of this when my triplets were infants), and walking in the dark during power outages. $19.95 including a set of batteries.

I have the same one as krm0789 (XtraFlex2) but change the 3 AAA batteries at least once a month. I have to have it bright. After it is noticeably dimmer, I change the batteries.

I bought this Energizer LED reading light some weeks ago. It use two coin batteries, and the instructions say they last for 30 hours or more before needing to be replaced. The reading light is bright and steady, and doesn't flicker. I've been using it clipped to my case and it seems like it lasts longer than the 30 hours stated. I bought batteries just to be ready, but up to now, they haven't needed to be replaced. The reading light costs about $10, and the batteries cost about a dollar a pair. Good deal, in my book.

Have you seen the Simple Light for the Kindle. It's gotten really great reviews on Amazon, and doesn't use any batteries at all, but I think it's only for the K3 (Kindle Keyboard) at this point. It's discussed on this thread.

Our e-Luminator Touch booklight has three intensity settings and runs on one AAA battery. The high setting will yield about 10 hours of reading time per battery, the medium will give about 20 hours and the low will give about 40 hours. So the length of time a singe battery will last depends a lot on how bright you like your reading light. It is available in both white and graphite to match the color of your Kindle, fits in most M-Edge jackets and has a paperclip-style attachment that also allows use on paper books and magazines. http://www.medgestore.com/products/kindle3-eluminatortouch.psp?device=kindle3And we offer friendly customer support! http://www.medgestore.com/about/contact/

I love the Beam N Read Light for walking around in the dark, but not for reading. It's worth every penny. This 1, the 6 LED 1, is as bright as a flashlight. I have been thinking of buying more. This light has lasted a good long time. I have been using the eLuminator Light for reading. It's very light. The light has lasted a month or less. You do need a cover that you can slide the clip end in, or just buy a Medge Cover to use it in.

If you want long-lasting batteries, here are some tips. LED light bulbs use less energy so those give longer battery life. Be careful, regular or xenon lightbulbs can look like LEDs, but are not the same thing. You only need 1-2 superbright LED bulbs in your light. More than that can be overkill in most cases.
Also, you want batteries with more milliamps. 2 AAA batteries have the least milliamps, 2 AA have more, and a 9v battery has the most out of the common smaller batteries. Which is why I built my own LED light that uses a rechargable 9v battery. It's awesome! Parts were only about $5.
My Streamlight brand Septor headlamp for camping, I also use for reading. It has 3 brightness settings, low, medium, and high. Lowest setting saves battery power, and I can use it for reading, camping, working under the car, in the cupboards, and many other things. It uses 3AAA batteries.

Want to know something freaky. I decided to order the 3 LED Bean N Read light today. I checked out the date when I ordered the one with the 6 LED Bean N Read light at Amazon. I ordered exactly this SAME day a year ago. LOL! Last night I had tried this light laying down with the light on my chest tilted up on my Coylcushion, & it gave a great light on the kindle page. No glare.
