I am ALL the time touching my kindle screen and I know someone who has a Nook you WON'T be able to see fingerprints etc as much as you think you will be able to. I actually put a screen protector on my kindle once and it broke the screen from the SLIGHT pressure I had to put on it to get the bubbles out. Make sure you are going to need it before you order one.

I highly recommend NO protector on the Touch. First, the glass will not be scratched by reading and even the highest quality protector WILL show hairline scratches and they will increase with use. I use the highly rated and excellent Steinheil ultra-crystal protectors on my devices, including the Xoom and Droid X. As outstanding in quality and clarity as they are, they do sustain fine, hairline marks over time.
As for fingerprints -- they are not a problem as they are on a tablet or phone.

I've never had a screen protector on my 3 year old Kindle 1, which lives in a cover, nor on my 1 1/2 year old iPad, which is in use and carried constantly, and which is played with by the 10 year old grandkids... Still looks like new. These screens are tougher than you think....

Thanks for the input. I mostly worry about scratches. Fingerprints can be wiped off. I read on the beach a lot. One grain of sand can make a pretty good scratch. If a screen saver gets a scratch over time, the screen saver can be changed. Just my feeling about it. I feel safer with a screen protector.

BoxWave's website is updated with products for all the new Kindles. http://www.boxwave.com/amazon-kindle-6-display-latest-generation-accessories/bwdd/zkkf/ I find it interesting that they are not offering screen protectors for the Kindle Touch or the Fire. Yet, they have always offered the same protectors for the Nook Simple Touch and the iPad. I've sent them an email asking if there are known issues with the screen protectors and the touch screen on Kindles. I doubt this could be true since Amazon CS sent me the recommendations above for protectors very similar to the Boxwave brand. Awaiting an answer.

I saw that. They just went up today. I had sent them an email and got a response today saying they were offering them now.
