I just bought a clip on reading light for €2.50 ($3.40) in the supermarket. I can honestly say it was worth every penny I paid for it.

Please tell us the brand and model of the light in case someone here is in the market for a light.

@fleur: I got one too for $2usd from Big Lots. It takes 2AAA batteries and has one very bright Cree LED light. And it's clip-on with a gooseneck. A week later the store marked them up to $7usd.
No brand or model. It's Chinese. But it works.

I don't think it has a brand but the arm is so floppy as to be useless. Maybe the rolling eyes smiley should be bigger. It will teach me to be a skinflint.

Perhaps you learned your lesson, but I still think your user name's cool.
Which Kindle do you have? If it's the Kindle Keyboard, Octovo's running a sale on Solis lights with vintage leather covers. Both are solidly made.

I can't speak of the light, but I love their vintage leather cover. It's my favorite of all my K3 covers. I'm tempted to keep reading on my K3 instead of my new kindle just because I like it so much.

I'm staring at my order for the Genuine black cover, Derek. I've been leaning toward canceling and getting the Vintage with light instead and you're influencing me to do so.
On the one hand, black with silver -- a winning combination, especially in the winter in New York. On the other, that Vintage texture and color. Those protean day-to-day changes.
But back to our OP.
People love the Solis; it's reported to be far more durable than the one Fleurignacois made the mistake of picking up.
Still, I don't even know which Kindle he wants the light for, let alone the cover.

I live in a village called Fleurignac and the inhabitants are therefore Fleurignacois There is a huge choice of lights for "proper" money but I was trying to get something for nothing which rarely works.

You're one of roughly 1,500 people spread out across eight miles, apparently. I envy your spatial freedom. I'd love to be that close to Cognac, too. Pity this is a Kindle forum and not a travel forum.

You've checked out the commune not the village. The village makes about 100+ people. If you look on Google streetview you can see my house. Cognac is an hour away. Easier to buy the booze in the supermarket Sorry all off topic.

Hi Fleurignacois, I see your small town on Google Maps. It looks charming.
I rarely buy discount/Chinese electronics, but my LED light is still working well. I will be happy if I get a year out of it for $2.

Easier to buy the booze in the supermarket An hour's drive to Cognac sounds like heaven to me. But perhaps your supermarket's more special than mine when it comes to, as you delicately put it, booze (insert emoticon with one raised eyebrow).

So basically, when my Kindle arrives, I won't have to stump up a huge sum of money for the official Kindle case? They are £50 in the UK!

Depends entirely on which Kindle you mean. No one's been very specific about their iteration of Kindle on this thread and, believe me, I've asked. If you're awaiting a Kindle Keyboard, then yes. You can get a top-of-the-line booklight and what was once the most expensive Italian leather Kindle case in the history of nerdkind as a package deal for £22. If, however, you're expecting a Kindle Touch, Fire or Tepid Fondle, then you're at the mercy of the market until the prices drop. But by then, you'll have already bought a case. If you're stuck, I find M-Edge to be a decent compromise between looks and value. That's why I always pick the eReader I want and buy it at the middle- or end-of-life cycle: The best cases at the lowest prices, and better deals on the reader itself.

I'm getting the 6" lightweight WiFi Kindle, only just release in the UK. I hate to admit it, but the Kindle lighted leather case does look the best, because the light powers off the Kindle and tucks away neatly when not in use.
