For one, I like the key-board.  It's easier to "type" with.  Secondly, and most importantly, the size of the K3 fits in my hand(s) better than the new smaller units.  It has more room to hold onto the device and work the side page buttons.  I don't carry mine all around like some of you so it's nice just to sit down and read a book that fits in my hands comfortably.

Anyone else notice this and feel the same way?

I love my keyboard on my K3.  I have no plans to get one of the newer ones at this point.

A strange collection of flash fiction dealing with the end of the world, or the beginnings of longer stories.  A special treat for the fans at just 99 cents.

I agree, Zell. I had a Baby Kindle for a couple of days before I realized how the Kindle Keyboard is much more comfortable in my hand. The Baby K was too small for me--for some reason (and I don't know why) it was causing my wrist to hurt.

Have you actually held one of the newer ones? I got my new Baby Kindle the day after they were announced and I love it. I love the smaller size and it fits in my hands perfectly. I do think it's too thin and prefer to read it in a cover, but I had the same issue with my K3 as well. This one is actually almost the exact same size as a mass market paperback

As for the keyboard, the one an this K4 is pretty easy to use and goes much quicker than expected.

I don't plan on tripping over myself to upgrade either. I am still completely happy with my K3. But the new ones are so darn cute that I can't say I'm not tempted...

Especially since yours looks so cute in its cover with those books!

And, I got the Kindle Basic because I disliked the Kindle3 keyboard so much. For starters, the graphite case with dark-mustard letters didn't work. When it was new it was hard for me to see the letters. After they wore a bit it was much worse. I got a nokey cover that gave me black background with white letters and that helped a lot but no numbers on the keyboard was a hassle and I was normally typing in numbers as either WEP passwords or locations to go to.

No, I much prefer the Kindle Basic. And, with an equally basic case from Marware the size is fine for me.

But, the outstanding thing is that Amazon will be selling the Kindle keyboard for the immediate future. There is something for everybody. Amazon even has paper books for Luddites.

As this is a thread for K3 fans, I hardly think all of us who have jumped on the bandwagon of the new K need to tell them how much we like our K4.

The K3 is good for reading in bed as the keyboard raises the height the screen. Now that I said that, I love the K4. I love the small size & lightness. Fits in my hand just fine. I love the keyboard better than the K3.

I have a K3, and I just bought a basic $79 Kindle for my granddaughter's birthday.  I've been playing around with it, reading some, and I really like it.  To me, the keyboard on the K3 is just a little short of worthless.  I don't use it much, but the letters on the keys are already worn to the point that I can't read them.  I tried the keyboard on the new Kindle and I actually like it - it isn't hard at all to use and to me is very functional.  I've already decided that if my granddaughter would rather have the K3, I'll gladly trade with her.  I could be just as happy with the K4 as I am with my K3...

I still love my 2Ki.  If I had to upgrade it would be to a K. Keyboard (3).  I like the physical keyboard and use it daily, if only to jump around in the books.  Yes, I don't always read begining to end, sue me.  Cool  I also like that the keyboard raises the screen higher while reading in bed  Cool Cool.  prefer page turn buttons to touch screens.  Easier while holding the K by the sides, finger/thumb already on the button.  Having held and used the 3K (my mom's) I find it lighter and easier to hold naked than my 2Ki.  My K is slippery and needs a case or I feel like I would drop it.  The 3K has a rubber feeling back and the grip feels much safer.

It is wonderful that Amazon has so many options now availble for people to choose from.  Budget friendly, wifi for never leaves the house, 3G for those who don't have as much wifi available, buttons, no-buttons and now a touch screen and full color.  Luck us!
