I thought I'd share with everyone the product of boredom and being excited about my new Kindle 4... I wanted something for lazy desk reading, where I don't even have to hold my Kindle Anybody else make their own stands?

Is that an Erector set? Or another brand?

Love it! I didn't "make" my own but I recycled the plastic stand from last year's daily calendar to use when I read during lunch at work. It works perfectly and didn't cost me a dime!

Yes, it is an Erector set I got it several years ago and it's been sitting in my closet until I brought it out to make this.

That looks so cool. Being new to the Kindle (as in I don't really have one yet, but it's totally on my Christmas list), these are such awesome accessories. So you build it yourself or is it something you buy?

I built this myself using pieces from an Erector set.

Which one do you have? They range from cheap to more expensive than a non-custom stand. On the other hand, you can rebuild it to fit a newer device whenever you buy one. That's the reason I like the idea -- because you only have to buy one kit once instead of ten device-specific stands. I built this myself using pieces from an Erector set.

Thanks for the link!
Maybe we (or someone else) can break down which pieces you used and see whether they're sold as part of a less expensive set.
Very creative of you, by the way. My looking at your stand as a possible option for other people shouldn't distract people from congratulating you!
