Have a Touch ordered for my wife, we don't have any Kindle at this time, and see where you need a light to read. So is it better to get a lighted cover or a clip on light? I have a Targus cover for my iPad that I like a great deal, it folds for reading etc. Any recommendations?

It's totally personal preference. I have used lights in the past but now have the lighted cover and absolutely love it! Always have the light with me if needed instead of going to find it or forgetting to bring.

My lighted cover has been the smartest thing I have bought for my kindle. I usually pinch pennies but splurged on this and I haven't regretted it for a moment.

I'm really torn on this. I have a lighted cover and I really do love the convenience of it, but my very favorite cover is my Noreve, so consequently I use it most of the time, with my M-Edge E-luminator light. If I traveled much, I probably would prefer the lighted cover, but I do most of my reading at home.

I'm waiting for the lighted K4 cover to come out. I had one for my K3.
I love them because you CAN'T lose the light.
I bought a kandle light, but could rarely find it when I needed it.

Yes, they have the Amazon lighted covers for the Touch on their website. They are taking pre-orders for them now.

The color choices could be better. And they are temporarily out of stock.

I can't praise the lighted covers enough. My K2 had the MEdge jacket and light, but I rarely used the light (and it added to the size of the cover. But with my K3 lighted cover, I always use the light. I absolutely LOVE this cover. Even if it isnt very cute.

It's a preference as some have said. I've used a light with my Kindle, and I find it hard to get the light distribution right. I tend to read on my iPad at night if I can't have a lamp on. But I've never tried a lighted cover...

Where does she normally read and what are the light condtions? I have a lighted KK cover but really found that I didn't need a light often but others use it frequently. The KK lighted cover is quite a bit heavier but I don't know how the weight differs for the new Kindles and with the new design. I also don't know how the light is on these or how it impacts the battery. I like the new design better though although the color options are limited and not as nice.
You could start with just a cheap cover to tide her over and wait to see if the light is needed frequently and for more reviews of the new design.
