I am going to order a new kindle 4 or kindle touch (haven't decided which yet) and I'm also trying to decide on a light/cover option.  I had an oberon on my old kindle which I loved.  This time around, I want to have some kind of light option so I can read in bed even if DH is sleeping, or so I can read while I feed my daughter at night, who's due in January.  I can't decide if I should hold out for a lighted cover from amazon, or if I should do another oberon with a clipon light like a kandle.  Anyone have any feedback?   Smiley

Wow, that's a loaded question! I'm sure you'll get a 100 different opinions.    Cheesy

I had an Oberon and a clip on light with my K2.  I thought I really like it at the time but I was always adjusting the light because of glare and there was all that added weight too.

When I got my K3, I wasn't sure what cover I wanted, so I tried to use the clip on light without a cover.  It had worked fine that way on the K2 when I was wanting to lighten the load but the K3 was so much smaller that there really wasn't anywhere to securely hook it.

I finally ordered a lighted cover for the K3.  It wasn't as bright as the clip on but it's perfect for reading in bed at night.  It also doesn't create a glare on the screen and I was amazed at how light everything was.  I've really fallen in love with the lighted cover.

When I upgrade to a K4, I'm sure I'll go with the lighted cover again.  I love how light and compact everything is.  Also, with the Kindle getting less expensive, I'm finding it more and more difficult to spent almost as much money on my cover as my ereader.

Was it the amazon lighted cover, or another brand (I don't even know if there are other brands, ha)!

The oberon covers are gorgeous - which is kind of a reason why I don't want to clip something on it, kwim?  Also, I just want to keep it simple, too.  The more stuff to mess with, the more likely I am to lose it!

Amazon's lighted cover.  I have a SOK3 and bought the cover when they had a 50% off special offer.

I originally purchased the amazon cover w a light, it worked beautifully but there is NO comparison to how nice using an Oberon is! As soon as my oberon arrived back went the cover w a light! I use the octavo light with my oberon and it really is a good combination of product. (the clip from the octavo light does not damage my oberon in any way)

When I got the Amazon lighted cover for my K3 I planned to have it on my Kindle during the thirty return period, but I just couldn't wait to get back to Oberon and after two weeks switched back to Oberon.

I am a huge Oberon fan ---- just ordered my 5th cover for my soon-to-arrive Fire.  Cheesy  I use an M-Edge Illuminator light with my K3 and it works great.

I love Oberon, too. I had 2 covers for my K2, one for my iPad and a journal cover that I've had for almost 20 years.

However, I fell in love with the ease and convenience of Amazon's lighted cover.  It's the only cover I've used for my K3.

I'm getting an Oberon for the day, and a kindle fire for nighttime reading.  Since I only read a chapter or maybe two in bed every night I figure the backlight won't be too bad for my eyes.
