Taking advantage of special offers on Kindle Touch

I am charging my Kindle Touch now, and there's a special offer for a $50 credit for getting the Amazon.com Rewards Credit Card.  I've been planning to get the card, but have been waiting for a time when I was ordering something. (The standard offer at Amazon has been to save $40 off of a purchase by getting a card.) How do I take advantage of the $50 offer? When I touch the screen, nothing happens, of course, since it's in sleep mode. Once I awaken my Kindle Touch, won't the offer disappear? Thanks for your help!

I don't have the Touch; I have the K3 Keyboard, but if I want to retrieve a special offer I have to awaken the K and then open the Menu and select "View Special Offers" from the list.  I imagine you must need to do something similar with the Touch.

On the basic kindle, if you press and hold the selector, that will take it out of sleep, turn on wifi, and take you to the offer.  You might try pressing and holding on the screen?
Or wake it up and you'll see it as a banner at the bottom of the home screen; select it there.

Also, on the basic kindle, all the special offers currently available are shown via a menu item from the home screen.

Is there a general rule of thumb for how long special offers last? I am still on the sleep screen, but don't see an expiration date. Since this offer is for $50 instead of the standard $40 off when applying for a card, maybe Amazon will leave the offer in place for Kindle owners. Hope so. (I'm charging my little Kindle Touch before putting it through its paces.)

Special Offer usually last for 4 days from the time they were first offered.  The $50 gift card on the credit card deal has been on the SOK for at least the last 4 months so you have time.

It was just there the other day - think it's gone now, as it's back to $40.
