I've now had a chance to really put the Touch through it's paces. I spent a lot of time this morning with it during my Bible study. I tend to jump between books a lot! I'm in and out of the contents, graphs, and imbedded links. I take a lot of notes in the books. I hated the dpad on the k3. It was uncomfortable and noisy. It took a lot of time and effort to navigate the way I do. And the keyboard! So difficult! I can't see the letters and the buttons are so hard to press.
The touch was a dream. So smooth, so responsive to my touch. So easy to navigate and type. I was finished in less time. My only complaints are as follows: sometimes I accidently brush the screen and turn pages inadvertently. Plus I don't like the fact that I have to tap the top of the screen to find the menu then the bottom to get the "go to" button. I hate looking all over.
Over all very very. Happy.

Crystal - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. My Mother has a K2 and quite honestly it is time to upgrade. One of the things that my Mom likes about the iPad is how easy it is to navigate through the Bible, especially when we are in church and our Bishop is everywhere with chapters and verses as part of the sermon.
As much as I would like to get my Mother the iPad, that is just too much technology for her and I really don't think a tablet would suit her needs. When I heard about the Kindle Touch I thought, ok, this might be exactly what she is looking for. She absolutely loves her K2 because of the eink and how long she can read without eye stress. (She hated reading on the iPad or anything backlit for that matter). I knew that touchscreen was the way to go especially for her Bible navigation. To hear your review and specifically that you used it during Bible Study and to hear your thoughts and results - I could not have asked for a better review because that is exactly what I needed to know. Mom reads other stuff like Patterson, Grisham et al, but she loves having her Bible on the Kindle - it's just the navigation that has been lacking with the 5 way controller.
God Bless you and Thanks again - I can't tell you how happy I am that you reviewed the Touch specifically using it during Bible Study. I think God is telling me to run off now and get Mom that KTouch for Christmas which is exactly where I am headed. Take care - Lisa

CrystalStarr, is the TOUCH comfortable to hold? I've heard some mix reviews on that one.

I'm not CrystalStarr but I would say yes it is easy to hold & with one hand. My hands are not big, in fact they are on the small side. Plus I have it in the case & I can still hold it with one hand & turn the pages.

Lisa! I'm glad my review helped you. I adore having multiple Bibles and other related books books on my Kindle. Like I said I did not like the navigation on the K3. This very thing was the driving force behind my purchase (that and the whole new and shiny aspect of it). I am very very pleased. I did make my font 1 size bigger to make it easier to accurately hit the embedded links. Highlighting is far easier and more accurate too! And the keyboard is fine for my notetaking.
Avivs I find it plenty compfy naked. I don't have a good case just yet so I cant comment on that. Easy reach really is easy. And I'm small. All of 100lbs soaking wet.
I hope this helps.

Crystal, I signed up to this forum to thank you for your review, especially the ability to "surf" our Bibles like we would the paper versions. It's not quite as quick as using my Bible apps on my Droid Incredible phone and Galaxy Tab tablet but it works a LOT better than using the Kindle apps on said devices and I have a sweet spot size for reading. The phone is a little too small to read in church without being an eye strain and I'd rather not stand out by carrying a tablet. The Touch fits in my pocket and the hand hold on the Belkin cover I got for it makes holding it a breeze. It even looks like a small Bible when the cover is closed. When I wore out my paper Bible, literaly to the point of the pages falling out, I decided to make use of the digital versions I already had. When I saw your review I went to Target hoping they'd have it in stock and before official release day. Sure enough they did and I've not used my Kindle apps on my phone or tablet since. I've used it for books, PDFs, loaded music on it, my Bibles, and the browser ( not bad at all for a quick Google search or other light browsing). Again thank you for your review. I bet Amazon thanks you as well, since your review helped them make another sale

Wow... I'm a bit speechless! I'm thrilled people are finding a way to get into the word because of me. Though it sounds like I could learn plenty about the Bible from you. I'm glad could be a help!

Since my Bible reading experiences with my KTouch keeps coming up I thought I'd share exactly what it looks like to surf the Bible right here in my review. Maybe this could help someone too.
Here is how it works on the Touch. Lets say you want to go to John 3:16. Turn kindle on and open chosen Bible. Tap at the top of the screen to get the menu open. Tap the bottom of the screen to get the 'Go To ' menu. Tap table of contents. Now you might need to tap to turn the pages forward until you find the book of John. Tap on it. Tap on Chapter 3. Now page forward to verse 16. VIOLA! You are there.
Now I can do this as fast as any experienced Bible flipper can with a traditional Bible. But I've had tons of practice as I do this daily. It sounds like a lot but it isn't. A few reading sessions and you'll get it. You can also jump between chapters with a big up or down swipe in some bibles.
This works pretty much the same on the Fire.
I love the Touch for the study Bibles. Those have little annotations you can tap right within the text that drives you right to the proper study note. Tap again and you are right back where you were.
