Bought my mom the $79 kindle w/special offers for xmas (and one for me too!). One of the first special offers I received was 50% off a cover, I bought one for myself but would like to get her one too but I need another code...

Anyone have one they could share with me? thanks so much,  Smiley

As far as I know, codes aren't transferable.

You can give someone else your code if you are not using it.  As a matter of fact I gave mine for the 50% off to someone else.

You're not supposed to. Amazon doesn't like it. I suggest checking the rules of the offer. Most are like this:

Promotional code must be requested on Kindle with Special Offers device
You must have a Kindle with Special Offers device registered to the same account as the qualifying purchase.
Offer is non-transferable and may not be resold.
If you violate any of the Terms & Conditions, the promotion will be invalid.

Given how many slimy people are selling codes on Ebay and the like, I would never risk my account by giving codes to others, especially a stranger who's first post was begging for one. That's just me though.

Welcome Jillmarie.  So nice that you want to get your mom a cover!  But, while you can use someone else's code, you're not supposed to.  It is against Amazon's terms for the SO Kindles and, as such, KB does not condone such trading.

It is entirely possible that the cover offer will come around again . . . especially as the new Touch and Fire models are just getting into people's hands now, so I'd suggest being patient

But it would be acceptable to use your code to buy a cover which you then sell to a friend.  Those sorts of transactions should be handled by PM outside the public threads and it's all entirely at your own risk.  KindleBoards offers no liability for such a deal gone wrong. Undecided

Also, there is a Buy/Sell/Trade/Barter board a bit further down. . .people do sell covers there. . . perhaps someone has one they're selling that way.  Again, the transaction is between the two of you; KB just offers the spot for the 'classifieds'. Cheesy

Again, Welcome!  Check out the rest of the boards. . .there's lots to talk and read about. . . .some of it not even about Kindles!

I just bought the Kindle keyboard w/special offers.  Where do I look for the promotion code for the 50% off?  Is it sent by email, on the packing slip, or hidden in the Kindle, or...?  I would appreciate any help.  Thank you.

When you connect to WiFi, the special offers will start showing up.  New ones come about every 4 days.  Some last longer.  You can always see what's currently available via the Home Page menu. . .there's a link for Special offers.    The 50% off a cover offer is not currently active so if you've only just gotten your Kindle it won't be available to you.  But not to worry:  they come back from time to time.

Hi Sher, mine showed up about 4-5 days after I activated it. I would guess they do it for everyone.

I want to give my mom hers unopened as as gift, so I really don't want to open it/activate it, but want to give her the case with the kindle. So, I'm in a pickle...

BTW, I bought this cover for $15 with my code and love it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HSG3JC/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details

I wonder if you called Amazon customer service the would help.  They have always been courteous and matched prices for me when I call.  I found my genuine leather cover on an auction site for 10.00 with free shipping.
