So my house has 2 kindles. My k2 and family k1. My daughter shows me k1 , coming out of her back pack with broken screen. I did try to reset, plug in and reset, and well why not and called kindle CS to see if there was another step. Two transfers and three people CS says there is no go to fix and could we replace with k3 for 60.00 just need to send back k1 on amazons ticket.
Ok that sounds fine!
We are happy readers. Sylvia

That's cool! The last time I dealt with Amazon CS was 10 years ago. They were pleasant then, and it's good to see that they're still pleasant.

Do you mean 'strikes' ? I first thought this was a complaint about the customer service.

The exclamation mark was just my excitement of wow they are sending me a new kindle. I received the email saying it shipped my new Kindle, 3G, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology is coming. Now I get to decide if I keep my k2 or make my k2 the family one. Both kindles stay in the family.

Just a follow up. My new k3 is small which is why I did not change up earlier. Now though there is a need so now I have it. The screen is a wonder. and for the first time I can download with out flying out of town. My side load method was easy. My k1 is being mailed back in original box and cords too. I hope they find that as funny as I do. I can not figure out why they want but it keeps it out of landfill here and maybe they know how to recycle.
Happy at home,
Sylvia

I got the exact same deal from CS at the end of October. My Kindle original stopped downloading books by Whispersync; I chatted with CS for a couple of weeks while they tried to trouble shoot. They finally decided that the 'radio' was dead and could not be restored. They offered me that deal. I initially said no thanks (because I had a Fire & Touch on pre-order). They told me that if I changed my mind, just give a call back. We hung up & I started looked at the Kindle 3G/Wifi & it's prices! I said to myself - what a deal. About an hour later I called back & said I'd take it. I fully expected to get a refurb; when it arrived, if it was a refurb, I could not tell that at all! It's great. So now I've decided to keep the Touch & Fire for myself & take the Kindle Keyboard to my daughter in February when I visit - she's in the Peace Corps in Benin (western Africa).
I love Amazon. Their service has always been great for me.

Out of all the companies I've ever dealt with, I have to say that Amazon's customer service is the best. Enjoy your new Kindle, Sylvia!
