Cisco,

I just finished DragonQuest last night so I'm 60% through the trilogy.  I'm still having a nice little reminder of books I read but didn't realize I'd forgotten all the details a long time ago.

Peter, there were two weekend days within that time span. Wink It probably helped that I was already familiar with the general history of the time in which the story is set. Also, I enjoy reading a well written book whether it is short or long, fiction or nonfiction, or modern, classical, futuristic, or historical.

I am also fortunate that when I put a book down, I can pick it back up and start reading in the same place without having to go back and reread to get back into the story (unless I have set the book down for more than a week). While I do read fairly quickly, I know that I am NOT a speed reader as I read every word and "hear" the story in my head. I am also compulsive; I look up words that are used differently than I expect or that are words I do not know.

Jeff-

I'm glad Test of Wills was a decent read for you.

Fadedrainbows-

Obtained a Kindle copy from my library on Tuesday.  Once I got into the groove of the POV shifts between Will Grayon and OWG, the other Will Grayson, I loved this book!     The characters j umped off the page and the story was a charmer.

Thanks for two great reads this month!

DJ

I'm glad you liked both of my choices as much as I did! They were great books and so I'm really happy you liked them Smiley

KingAl, I have two choices for you.  I didn't see any Agatha Christie on your Goodreads list.  She is one of my all time favorites.  I recently listened to this one.  It's ostensibly a Hercule Poirot novel but he actually plays a smaller part than usual.

My second recommendation is one I read a few months ago and really enjoyed.  It's a quirky book originally published in 1967.

Let me know if you'd like some other choices.

I finished  Sad Cypress. I really enjoyed it and will try to read the others in the series. Should I read them in order, or does it not matter which order I read them?

I'm so glad you liked it, another Christie fan is born! Grin  It doesn't matter what order you read them in, so dive right in anywhere.

I've finally finished Her Royal Spyness. It was frustrating to have so little time to read this month Sad.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to, having expected to enjoy it. It managed to both have the entertaining aspects of a mystery and not focus too much on the murder. The setting also helped, something that was different enough from daily life now also helped a lot. I might look into more of these, have enough I want to read right now that its not something I'm doing immediately, but I would find it worth spending money on more of these.

Thanks.

Sincityreader,
I'm about a third finished with Mudbound. I didn't expect to like this book. That's being kind. I thought I would hate it. I was wrong. It's a good book. I'm liking everything from the writting style, the characters and, of course, the story itself. I wish I had more time to read. I want to find out what happened.

kaotickitten, I finished  Mail-Order Christmas Brides: Her Christmas Family\Christmas Stars for Dry Creek a few days ago and enjoyed both stories.  Now I'm reading Ender's Game.  With trying to get ready for Christmas, I'm not too far into it, but I like it so far.

ciscokid I am glad you enjoyed the Mail order brides.  I am aslo glad you are liking ender's game.  I understand what you mean about christmas.

Anna I just finished Unbroken: A World War Two Story.  I must say I was looking forward to reading this due to all who ave picked this and raved over it.  I found that the story to be intresting.  Yet I did not enjoy the book.  For the author repeated more times than nessicary.  Also se was quite slow in her telling.  I remembered why I picked up Seabuscit and never got past the first chapter when I read this book.  I wish I could have liked it.  Would have if not for the auhor.  I feel bad on some of the stuff that happened in this book.  Anyways thanks for making me (lol) read a book I have been meaning to anyways.

I had the same feelings for , I only read it because it was for a book club.  But as I started getting into it and I liked it, more and more.  I am glad you are enjoying it.

KingAl,

I am 70% done with .  I have alway's been hesitant about reading this book because it was geared for teenagers.

But as I am reading it, you cannot tell.  I don't know why I waited so long. The story has me on pins and needles with every page turn.  I can't wait to finish.

Thank You for giving me the "push" I needed to start reading it, but now I am going to have to finish the series Grin

Kaotickitten, glad you at least found the story interesting even if you did not like the pacing and style of the author.

KingAl,

I finished the The Hunger Games.  I really enjoyed the book. Even though The Hunger Games are geared toward teenagers, I really enjoyed the writing style and it kept me interested from begining to end.  I was a little sad about the end I really wanted them to live happy ever after.  But I have a feeling because of the berries that is not going to happen.

But I can honestly say, I will definately read book 2 & 3.

I don't want to read the Hunger Games again until AFTER I see the movie.  If I do, it'll be too fresh in my mind and I will make so many comparisons to the book that I won't enjoy the movie.  We all know the movie is never as good as the book.

I refused to reread the last Harry Potter before the last two movies came out. Now that I have seen them I'd like to read at least from The Order of the Phoenix to the Deathly Hallows again.

kaotickitten, I finished Ender's Game today and really enjoyed it.  Someone told me there are some sequels, so I think I may look them up on Amazon when I get the chance.  Thanks for the great selections this month.

Geoffrey,

I just wanted to say that I finished Grants Pass last night. I had to take in small doses because it was a sad and intense read. It was wonderful though. I loved majority of the stories, almost all of them were well-written.

Thanks for telling me about this anthology, I doubt I would have ever read it on my own!

January, I will be reading Soulless for a Goodreads group I'm in. And I have For the Win on my Kindle for sometime in the future! I also wanted to say, FTW was on the shelf at my local library in hardcover form in the YA section. I was super excited to see Doctorow on the shelf to be read Smiley

Sincityreader,
I finished Mudbound.  I thought it was predictable but good.  I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.  Thanks for the choice.
