tl;dr version - touch keyboard blocks password box on browser - help!

My friend recently purchased a Kindle Touch and is trying to access a password protected calibre server via experimental browser.

Calibre responds appropriately with a 401 and slightly verbose realm within.

The authentication prompt appears, the keyboard comes up but covers the password portion of the prompt.

So she can type in the username, but cannot get to the password box to type it in. (The Kindle 3 has no issue like this since it has a physical keyboard and directional keypad.)

I'm not personally familiar with the operation of the Touch - can anyone advise if there is a way to navigate to that box to type it in? or perhaps close the keyboard or some other workaround?  I believe she said that closing the keyboard wasn't possible through the usual way since the auth box essentially freezes the user interface until it is submitted.

Pure guesswork, but having typed the username, try pressing "down" (whatever that is on the touch) and type the password - despite typing "blind", this may work.

can she drag up on the part of the webpage she can see to move it above the keyboard?  I'm trying to find a similar webpage to test...

Just tried it on a page, and I can slide the page up and down behind the keyboard by flicking upward or downward on the page above the keyboard.  Let us know if it works for her!

Thanks for the reply but that won't work.  The page itself is not yet loaded.  The authentication prompt is a function of the Kindle itself and it is modal so there is no interacting with other elements behind the prompt.  So you have the username/password prompt and the keyboard visible which are both Kindle UI elements.  The keyboard covers the password portion of the prompt.
