Just put in my order for the Touch as my Christmas present from my boyfriend!!! Sooooo excited!!!!! I have a Student Prime acct, so I opted for one day shipping but when I placed the order, it said 2 day?!? What?!?!!? I KNOW I clicked the little radio button for one day...  Huh Huh Huh

So I started a chat with an Amazon CS rep ... and he said he could change the shipping speed for me... which was fine... and he did... but since it wasn't my debit card that I ordered it with, I asked him to just be reassured that I wouldn't be charged an additional $102.99 since the $99.00 had already been deducted from boyfriends account (yes I have access..it's just not my money LOL).  The rep told me to contact my bank? Whatintheee?!?! It's all he kept repeating, over & over when I just wanted reassurance since I could SEE as I was talking to him that the $99.00 HAD already been taken out (he was insisting it had NOT been) ...I was getting agitated so I ended the chat...and promptly started another w/a different rep...

I told this rep my story ...and she immediately took off the $3.99 shipping charge & still kept it at overnight! I was astonished!!!! I had never had reason to contact Amazon CS before & was about soured on them from my very first experience & this rep turned it all around Smiley So now my Touch is scheduled for delivery to me tomorrow Smiley Smiley

Just a question about shipping tho... When I first ordered, I tried to change the shipping speed myself but the order had already gone into "shipping soon" status and I was unable to... but when the first rep changed the shipping speed, it went back to "not yet shipped" and hasn't changed again... should I be worried? Or do you think I will still get it tomorrow?

Sorry for the long post...just excited about my Touch finally being ordered!!!! Smiley Smiley

ETA:  I'm about to quit Amazon completely.... while talking to a rep via chat, my order was cancelled...not by me either! Not sure why or how..but it was cancelled..yet the $$ is missing from my bank acct... I have contacted CS..and have someone looking into this... hoping for a resolution.. Sad

I was reading and found myself saying "Yep!  That sounds like Amazon's great CS coming through again!"  And...then I got to the end and was left with a befuddled look on my face.

I hope that whatever issue gets worked out in a favorable manner.

It may have happened when talking to the first CS rep, when you ended the chat. They may have cancelled the first order to make sure the money wasn't taken out 2 times. Have faith. They are extremely good and will go to great lengths to make their customers happy.

UPDATE!!!

This has been such a frustrating experience for me.... *sigh* .... I rec'd an email from the Amazon CS rep that was workin on this issue w/me and basically it said that in order to get the authorization removed from my boyfriends checking acct, they would need to do a conference call w/him & his bank & them... so I had to call my boyfriend & told him what had happened... He is so technologically challenged he had no idea HOW to do a 3 way call on his cell..so I had to wait until we both got home a couple of hours ago and do the 3 way for him & just put him on the  line...

So once he gets the authorization removed, I had the Amazon CS rep stay on the line and asked HOW the order got cancelled in the first place ..turns out the last rep I talked to cancelled it..without permission from me..I SPECIFICALLY told him I didn't want to cancel & reorder cuz I didn't want another charge/authorization on the card... but I guess he did it anyway.. so of course, I complained about that... so the Amazon CS rep ended up giving me a $10 credit PLUS a credit for the overnite shipping... so I went ahead and ordered another Touch...for a grand total of $89.00 and that's with the overnight shipping Wink Alls well that ends well.... I guess...

Just a very frustrating experience overall... over something that should've been so simple...

Sunfiregirl, that's really strange. I had a different experience this week. I also ordered the Touch with a lighted cover. Delivery was on time, but they delivered two! The weird thing is they shipped a double order (same order number). I called my card company to verify that I was only charged for the one I ordered and it was correct. Somehow they sent me a double order, but only charged for the one order. I called customer service and told them what had happened and that I wanted to be honest about the mistake that had been made and that I didn't want to be one of those people that just kept it even though it was their mistake.  He was like why don't you just keep it and I said I would feel better if I sent it back. I kept thinking someone at the warehouse might possibly get in trouble or get fired and I couldn't live with that. He said he appreciated my honesty and gave me a $15.00 credit to my account. He emailed me a return label and I dropped it off at the UPS store today.

Hopefully, you'll get things straightened out and your new Kindle delivered straight away. I upgraded from the K2 and absolutely love the new Touch!

Sunfiregirl,

I can really understand your frustration with Amazon CS, but don't give up on them.  They are usually excellent.  I would be willing to bet that Amazon hired a bunch of new reps for the holiday season.  I am sure with all the new Kindles, they are expecting higher sales and higher service calls to go with it.

My oldest son just got a job with Nintendo as a wifi customer service rep.  He is considered a contractor and is temporary help for the holidays.  While he has had training, some situations will be trial by doing.  I am thinking that it may be the same with Amazon.  And I am glad they took care of you in the end.  I hope you enjoy your new Kindle and your boyfriend is a real sweetie to get you such a great gift.   Grin

I'm trying to keep a positive outlook throughout all this, and I tend to agree w/you, Tripp, they probably did hire new reps for the holiday season & I understand that..however, what I found most discouraging & frustrating out of all this was how an order I made got cancelled by a rep WITHOUT MY PERMISSION...and then I'M the one that has to jump through hoops to get an authorization removed & place a new order, etc... it wasn't MY mistake yet I'm the one that has to fix it? That is what infuriated me the most.... I am a customer service rep myself, just not for retail, and our motto at my company is "Put the customers first", "Take them out of the loop" and "First call resolution"... none of those standards seem to have been applied in my experience w/Amazon... But I will try and cut them some slack..just have a very bitter taste in my mouth right now...  Undecided .. Not tryin to hate on Amazon..cuz I've had nothing but great service from them in the past, but this time was obviously different..

My Touch is out for delivery on the truck already...so that makes me  Grin

Will the books that I purchased that are now on my K2 automatically be on my Touch when it arrives? Or do I have to transfer them somehow? I see the option on the MYK page of Amazon to "deliver to" and it has my Touch listed...do I do that now? Or wait until it arrives?

I am really excited about finally upgrading!!!!

And no screesaver hack for me this time! OY! lol Wink

You can do it right now through the MYK page and when you connect your Touch to wifi (or 3G) they will start downloading. Or if you prefer to wait, you can just go to your 'archives' on your new Touch and download them from there. Enjoy your new Touch! I am loving mine!

First off, thanks so much for the reply Smiley

Ok I did them all from MYK page, (only 62 books...I know I'm slackin Lol) but I have 2 questions:

1.  I only see 10 of them in "pending deliveries"...did I do something wrong??
2.  Does this mean I will now have 2 copies of each of my books on the Touch since I did them from MYK AND they are going to be in my archives??

Thanks so much!

Is that how many you sent to your Touch? If so, then that's the correct amount.

They won't be on your Touch twice - your books are either on the Touch itself or visible in Archives, not both.

I sent all 62 books from my MYK page on Amazon..but only see 10 in pending deliveries?

I thought if you owned the books on one Kindle device they are automatically archived on ur new device? Is this wrong? If not, then if I sent all my books to my Touch via the MYK page, won't that mean that I'll have 2 copies of each book? Sorry I'm getting all confused here lol  Huh Huh

Some books don't allow you have them on more than one device. You only have one copy of the book even if it is on more than one device. Also, if the Whispernet is turned on you new one, then the books that are listed as pending may have already been delivered to the Kindle. Most of the Kindles that have 3G have the Whispernet turned on and the books are loading when there is a signal.

If the books are on your K2 and you've sent them to your new Touch, then yes, you'll have two copies, one on each device.  I thought you meant they'd be showing on the Touch and in Archives, but they're on one or the other on any one device.

Sunfiregirl, if you sent books to your new Touch, they will download when you sync it. When you get it (which I assume you have by now), you'll have to enter your password for your WiFi network, and then it should connect, identify itself your account and start downloading.

You will only have one copy of the book on your device; but the book will show up in your Archive and on your Kindle, depending on how you have it set to view.

Let us know how it's going!

Omigosh... I have been so busy w/the holidays & my new Touch that I completely forgot to let you all know how it's going...

I absolutely LOVE the Touch!!! Moreso than my K2, which now sits idle Sad All of my books are on the Touch & have been put in collections... Love it!

I am still looking into getting the Fire tho.. For some reason the book lights don't do much for me when I want to read at nite & others are sleeping... and my Android phone is too small... so I'm debating.. maybe for my Bday next week I'll treat myself Wink

Hope everyone is doing well Smiley

I upgraded from the K2 to the Touch and love it, too. I also bought the Fire--which I am also addicted to. DH claims I have my nose stuck either in the Touch or the Fire all the time.  Grin Of course, he says this while watching something sports related on TV.
