I don't know if it is because it's been on there for awhile, which caused some problem with the adhesive to the surface of my KDX, but it peeled off about a centimeter of the white surface on the "Home" button. I was utterly shocked because I've never had problems before with DecalGirl skins. I was changing the skin because it was due for a new one, since the old was a bit deformed in some places. When I peeled it off, it took some of my KDX with it. I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone, and I suppose it's not a big deal because I have another skin on it now (I should have taken a picture before I put it on!). It just shocks me. I know that I didn't do anything that would have caused it to take a bit of the surface part off.

I've never had a problem. Wish you had taken pictures. How long was it on there?  I just sold my K3 and they may want the skin taken off. Mine has been on there since March which is longer than I usually have one on. I would hate it if this happened to them.

Kathy--When taking off a skin that's been on for a long time, I use a blow dryer on medium (warm, not hot!) to soften the adhesive a little. For a big device, I work in stages, a little at a time, and slowly, all the while keeping the dryer moving. I just removed a 17" MacBookPro skin that way this afternoon that had been on for two years. No damage and no residue.

Annie, sorry for the issue. If you'd taken pictures, perhaps DG might have been able to assist. Either way, you probably should let them know what happened.

I took off the piece and took a picture, but it's really hard to tell white on white. You can barely see it. I don't know if I want to make a big deal because what can they do?

FWIW, I took the decal girl skin off my K1 before I sold it back to Amazon.  It had been skinned since at least the fall of 2008 so a good 3 years.  Though there were places that stuck when I first was pulling it off, it wasn't hard to go back and get the little slivers with a fingernail.  The thing basically looked like new when I was finished -- I didn't notice it having taken off any of the original finish but, I confess, I wasn't really paying attention to that.  Just trying to make sure all the brown wood-looking part was gone. Roll Eyes  The skin, of course, was toast.

Great tip about the hair dryer. I'll let them know to go slowly and if it sticking to use the hair dryer. I usually change the skin often but this skin was so cute with my cover I've left it on longer.

I had a K2 that had a decal skin for about 2 years and when I gave the kindle to my brother a couple of months ago, I pulled off the skin slowly and had no issues. Sorry that happened.
