Is there a way to change which kindle shows up as your default kindle to download books to on Amazon? I wanted to make my fire my default as that's the one I have been reading on the most lately. I use one click buying and sometimes I forget to switch kindles. It would be nice if you could change the default, can you? I can't seem to find a setting for it.

The default is the one closest to the beginning of the alphabet.
Just name your Fire 'Aardvark' and you'll be golden.
Alternately, you can put a symbol at the beginning, as it prioritizes those first. So, :
*Fire is before
Fire
*John's Fire is before
*John's Kindle which is before
John's Kindle
*John's Fire is before
Betsy's Fire
Make sense?

It sorts by alphabet. But is also I think lists eink kindles first before any other devices and the apps, no matter the name. I'd have to check on that. My main Kindle has a name starting with "A", so it always is first in the drop down.
I don't think though you can move the fire ahead of the eink. Maybe someone can confirm that. But just try changing the name of the one you want first to something with "A".
eta: i checked on my drop down and I was right. I have 2 e ink kindles that are listed first. One starts with an A, the other with a T. Then I have the PC app, cloud and phone app starting with an A next. After all of that is my Fire. It starts with a D.

Yup, that's correct. I have Annie's Kindle before Annie's iTouch. |

I have my ebooks delivered to Amazon's Cloud Reader. Is there no way to get Cloud Reader to be listed first in the drop-down box (above my Kindle device)?

There doesn't appear to be a way... maybe someone else will know better though. |

In the drop down when you want to buy a book, the eInk Kindles are listed first alphabetically. So I have
Hedwig (my K4)
Richard's Kindle (my brother's)
TheTardis (my K3/Keyboard)
I used to have TheTardis named *TheTardis* so it would be first; before I got the K4 I didn't want my bro's kindle to be the one that was automatically there.
After that are my 'other' devices in alpha order
*Xoom*
Ann's Droid
Fawkes (My Fire)
Kindle on Laptop
And then
Kindle Cloud Reader
I could take the * of *Xoom* and then Ann's Droid would be first. I'm not sure if that would drop the Xoom below Fawkes or below Kindle on Laptop.
In the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge deal. . .I've gotten used to double checking which is showing. And I mostly want books to go to Hedwig anyway. . . .

The order is weird. When you purchase a book, the e-ink Kindles are listed alphabetically before the other stuff. But if I go to MYK and choose a device to send to from there, my Fire (!Apollo) is in the list with the e-ink devices...
So to purchase:
!Dorrie
Alegria
Athena
Jareth
Linda's Kindle
!Apollo
And in MYK, it's
!Apollo
!Dorrie
etc

I'd really like my iPad to be listed before DDs kindle.... Sometimes i have to go hunt where she put it to delete things!  And now my blasted iPhone put itself before the iPad, I guess I have to change it's name on there. Oh and I'm going to add another eInk kindle so I will still be 3rd. Hmph. |
