screensaver hack safe??

Hi all,

Just wanting to double check that the screensaver hack is safe for a new K3 keyboard software version 3.21.....

I've read the latest on mobile read forums, and it seems to be, but just wanted to double check before trying it on the K3K my niece is getting for xmas!!!

The latest software version for the K3/Keyboard is 3.3.(Keyboard Software Update Page)

I would not advise messing with the firmware of a Kindle you are giving to someone else.  It will possibly prevent them from getting new updates that they might want to have - though I don't really expect any more for the Keyboard model.  And it is against Terms of Service, though Amazon hasn't a history of bothering about it too much.  Still, if it's not important to the recipient what pictures display when sleeping, having a "hack" installed may cause problems for the person if she needs warranty service.

she knows she's getting the k3, and asked me if we could hack it. My K3 that I sold had been hacked, as is her mum's, and she was just wondering if we could do hers too. BUT as I had done mine last october and her mum's last december, I wasn't sure how the hack went with the updates......I thought I'd read about problems on newer K3's with the hack that was out, but notice now that it says it supports 3.2.1

She's happy to leave it if it will cause a problem, but would love her own photo's on it! That's why I wanted to double check as I hadn't done it since last year!

I can say from experience, the screensaver hack will work with all current K3 keyboard software.  If there is any chance they might want to turn Special Offers on, it could cause a issue with that feature.

Thanks, we did it yesterday and had no problems......after I installed the correct hack for her version, lol........only 1 false start but all good now!
